I finally found Piper with her caravan. I made MacReady get out of his Power Armor, dismissed him to Sanctuary, and immediately hooked up with Piper clad in Power Armor. Ha-ha!

Didn't even give him a chance.

Nope, he was always whining and snivelling about "we're gonna split this up, right"? He seemed too much like a laid back stoner. When Piper and I passed Covenant the Mayer showed up red in VATS so I killed him. Everybody got mad and started shooting at me including Piper. IDK, I thought he might be a Synth and VATS was warning me. I had to load a previous save to get things back to normal except for having to suffer through that heart-to-heart chat with Piper. You were right about MacReady always wanting another cigarrette. I even gave him his own stash from the vending machines. I'll travel with MacReady again after I romance Piper. I like that headshot accuracy perk you get from him. I already forgot what Piper gives me. I know there are some quests at Diamond City concerning the Mayor that I need Piper to get.

He's probably kicking stones right now, with his hands in his pockets, thinking what he's supposed to do now.
 
 
He might smoke too much, but I find that he gets the job done without complaining.

Just doing some reading about the DLC to be released in "May". Apparently it will need Valentine as a companion to complete it. So that makes it official (as some have noted) that companions don't die.

I have noticed that I have to constantly refill my companions ammo. I thought I only had to put 5 or so in their inventory and then they had infinite ammo?

I think that is only for Settlers. I remember Cait always requesting some ammo if I found some but when I looked she had a ton of it. I did have to give her a specific caliber she was out of since she's too stupid to switch weapons. Yes, she was vicious with a shotgun. Raiders and Super Mutants alike didn't stand a chance against Cait with a shotgun.

If you leave them with their default weapon they have infinite ammo. Any other weapon will consume ammo as used. I still want to see if I am allowed to pull their default, mod it, give it back, and retain infinite ammo.
 
I have the ammo crafting mod and it is great, pretty balanced, not needing 3 steel and 2 acid to make 50 mini nukes lol

There are a few different versions depending on if you want it more realistic or just want to make infinite ammo and pretend you're not cheating...lol

Move the bodies down to the river and leave them there. The bodies will still produce goodies.

But that was just to get the bodies out of the town so I could start developing it when you turn it into a settlement.   

We can't have our new settlers stumble across a bullet ridden body.
 
I pretty much forgot about them after that.  I did note that they never went away.   There was always a pile of corpses down by the river.

That place is small for sure. And one needs the space to build.
 
Something that I have learned is to move all the bodies out of the area immediately after the battles. Don't need any of that trash to make it a permanent spot.
 
Return often and gather the booty but if your luck is like mine, more often than not you will drop into a battle.

In all fairness I dumped Piper once and just hooked up with her again before I could dazzle her with my wit and charm. LOL  I think the game glitched out or I missed the part where it tells me that "Piper hated you for that'. Out of nowhere I got an option of 'Where do you want to send Piper?'. Maybe I hit the wrong key combination or something. Either way we're all better now and I got to 'flirt' with her last night. We all know what's going to happen next, don't we?
