I'm thinking MacReady or Piper is next. I haven't seen Piper in a long time. I hope she didn't get wasted running that supply line I assigned her.

The game was acting all weird yesterday so I verified the cache and haven't tried it again yet. Everything froze while I was in my Pip-Boy. I'm feeling guilty about having to kick Preston to the curb. First I have to take his Power Armor away from him.

I'm rather disappointed that the .38 rounds and .308 rounds sound completely identical on the bolt action rifles. It's only the .50 cal that sound real. .38 and .308 both sound like a pellet gun firing. Totally disappointing.
 
This is probably the only thing I'm disappointed with about the game, and that you cannot make your own bullets. I'm aware their are mods out there for this, but this should have been a feature that was already in place to begin with by Bethesda. Slackers...

What I do to "avoid" that is put them at the Castle. Makes them feel like they're doing something. Or, if you want them to "feel" (does that actually happen?) put them at the settlements that get raided the most. Then they'll think they're reliable.

The problems with companions is that they don't think. Constantly stepping on mines and tripping laser sensors. For this reason I doubt they can feel anything. They're probably Stimpack addicts and just looking to feed their habits when they do this stupid stuff. I can't tell you how many times I had a Sniper shot lined up and at the last minute Preston walks in front of me and takes one in the head. I wouldn't mind so much except I am the one that has to repair his Power Armor helmet.

Do not give Cait a rocket launcher. Biggest mistake of your life. About that, I gave up on Cait. SHe complains way too much, she doesn't like it when I take on quests, she doesn't like it when I take in some Jet. I dropped her off at the Castle, and took on Macready. Honestly, he's quiet, won't complain, will do what you tell him, will shoot what you tell him to shoot. The only thing I hear him say is that "he needs a cigarette". Plus, the 20 point chance to headshot in VATS is nice too. And no, no "wild side"... no bromancing, just straight bros killing anyone that gets in our way.
 
Oh ya, Macready doesn't care if you use any of the "substances" in the game. Macready does not like travelling at night.

I have noticed that I have to constantly refill my companions ammo. I thought I only had to put 5 or so in their inventory and then they had infinite ammo?

I think that is only for Settlers. I remember Cait always requesting some ammo if I found some but when I looked she had a ton of it. I did have to give her a specific caliber she was out of since she's too stupid to switch weapons. Yes, she was vicious with a shotgun. Raiders and Super Mutants alike didn't stand a chance against Cait with a shotgun.
