Hey guys i need help. i did my first over clocking last time and i set it to 4.6Mhz at all cores and it was running at 4.6mhz all the time, then i tried bumping it up to 4.7Mhz and now it fluctuates down like this except when it its working 100% it is on 4.7Mhz. Any suggestion or ideas to make it work at 4.7Mhz again?

Hm, i have the Same Mainbord as Jacob, and I dont have the overclocking Tab Layout like him. Im using the newest BIOS, he had 1.01...

And I dont know why, but CPU Z doesnt Show my BIOS Settings. The 6700k is still at 4ghz and not 4.8 with my voltage - why? C States, Eist deactivated

(EVGA z170 Stinger) with newest Bios

I prefer Adaptive voltage as opposed to override on Sandy/Ivy/Skylake platforms. I just have better voltage stability and generally better overclocks with adaptive instead of overriding. Overriding can cause some oddities sometimes at least in my experience.

Hi Jacob, could you please tell me what test you ran on Prime95 (Blend? max temp?) also what version of Prime95 you were using? I have a custom loop water cooled PC, Same processor, memory and motherboard as you but my temps during the test were close to 78C.. at stock values my CPU stays at 22C and under load max 36C - 40C so something doesn't add up in my case.

Thanks in advance

Are you on air as well? Prime will beat up that cpu I had high temps think 75 or so in prime but my rig is 100% air cooled via Skylake i6700k

Normal conditions 28C idle up to 65-68 in Battlefield 1 with all kinds of other stuff running and OBS streaming in HD @ 60fps no capture card or anything just straight run off my build

So you're saying your OC is not staying @ 4.7 100% of the time like just on desktop with task manager open the clocks will fall to 1.6ghz when cores are not in use then jump to 4.6-4.7 when opening a application?

What is your PCs power plan on I have seen mine on a reformat fresh install do this once before setting my pc's power plan up

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options

Custom / HIGH PERFORMANCE

Give that a shot and try monitoring with HWinfo very good program

I have a z170 ftw and I am having problems overclocking this bad boy. my z68 I used to 4.5 easy and temps never went as high as 70 or 60c with air cooler too. this cpu 6700k I cant even do 4.4 with out blue screen of death and temp in the 80 range with water cooling.
