As tempting as it is... 980ti hybrid sli would crush 3440x1440 over a titan x hybrid right? As far as I understand it just doesn't make sense so burn so much cash on a titan x... time we have 100hz+ monitors for 4k you'll probably want to upgrade your gpu anyway. That sound about right?

Fastest but only by a slim margin. I tend to agree on the price for compute. 300 for marginal improvement is not worth it. I got the 980 ti hybrid. I'm hoping that they allow vram stacking in DX12. Because 12 GB for future is nice.

I agree except for the fact that I don't usually like to have to rely on SLI. Some games that aren't AAA titles just don't do well with SLI.

I kind've wish that I waited for the Titan X Hybrid instead of getting the Titan X SC. I got my Hybrid upgrade kit a few days ago (after 4-7 weeks of trying to snag me one) and last night I found out that two of my 1.5mm hex bits were stripped so I'm awaiting to get that replaced by EVGA (oh yeah, EVGA is the BEST!. I once had a problem with an Asus 480 because I wanted to install the high airflow bracket and they didn't care.) But yeah, the installation process seems more complicated that I thought of (at least according to the instruction manual).

As for is the Titan X worth it? Hell yes, at least if you have a 4K G-Sync monitor. The games that you can't max at 60 FPS (usually 40-45 FPS) feel like 60 FPS. Plus that VRAM. If anything you can always get a second (used) Titan X for like $550 when its replacement comes along and you should be good at least until 2018.

The stock fan is a little loud. I found its much more bearable with a Noctua low noise adaptor. It cuts the noise in half and load temps only go up a few degrees, to around 60C compared to 52-53C with the fan at full speed.

I tried some other silent fans namely the Noctua NF-F12 and Sythe Gentle Typhoon AP-14 both both failed miserably. Lack static pressure compared to the stock fan and both went settled around 80C during gaming after about an hour. (Starts around 40C and then goes up about 1C ever minute or so until it hits low 80s).
