I installed my Hybrid a few days ago my idle temps are amazing & load temps are amazing. I am a little annoyed about the radiator fan noise. My pc was virtually silent on idle before I installed my hybrid cooler. I have a fanless psu and a silent scythe cooler on my 4790k and an all ssd storage setup. I'm boosting to 1480 mhz (+203 mhz) and (+132mhz memory).  Silence when idle is a very important goal for me. Quietness when gaming is the reason I went with the hybrid kit.

I tried the maxwell bios tweaker to disable the fan's totally on cool temps. this does of course disable the original gpu fan but not the pump / fan.

Could anyone suggest a course of action? Stopping the rad fan with my finger clearly shows it's the noise making culprit.

a) can I slow down the radiator fan?
b) can I disable the radiator fan on cool temps?
c) can I easily switch the radiator fan to something silent?
d) any other suggestions?

your help would be greatly appreciated

regards

damien.

a) Yes, with a Fan Controller.
b) Yes and No, I gets HOT Real Fast without a Fan Running on the radiator.
c) Yes, any 120mm fan will work.
d) Have Fun with this Card and maybe review this Thread from the beginning.

Hi bcavnaugh

thanks for the reply.

I think I'll opt for a new fan.

this model looks good.

"
Corsair Air Series 120mm PWM Quiet Edition High Static Pressure Fan"
I am trying to decide if I should go for the PWM model or not.

I'm totally having fun with the card. The hybrid kit is an awesome mod. But I want to mod the mod now :)

Before you go and buy a new Fan read about fans that are for Radiators they are NOT the same as Case Fans.
Fans that I use.

Curious what o/c's are you guys getting?
GTA5 seems more sensitive than any benchmark I've tried.

I'm using push/pull 1850rpm GentleTyphoon fans, 100% fan speed (because of the VRMs), max voltage, (128%/80c/+80/+300) and I've had one crash even though the temp never goes over 45c.
VRM FAQ here: http://www.evga.com/suppo...ewfaq.aspx?faqid=59555

GTA5 settings:
1920x1200 native with DSR at 2650x1600 (15%)
MFAA nv cpl swap
MSAA x2
FXAA
TXAA

This fills out all the VRAM this way.

So bottom line is I'm not sure what's so good about this card.  The clocks are the same as the Classified and it doesn't seem to overclock well, even with the temp being 1/2.  So basically I could have the same thing with much less noise and hardware for an extra $50.  Not very happy.

I received mine about a week ago.  I installed it.  I'm running stable @ 1504MHz.  I never top 39ºC
I am extremely disappointed that I got absolutely no games bundled with this crazy expensive card, a first for EVGA and the last 4 EVGA cards I bought going back 12 years.

Keep us posted, you seem to be the first one to have an issue with your card.
You did run the fan on the Radiator Correct? I have seen users ask if they can run this card without a fan.

Then you might want to ask NVIDIA for a game code as they are the ones that are doing the codes so really you should be "extremely disappointed" with NVIDIA and not EVGA. You also could buy a second card to get your free game codes.

Yes alls i did was install the card, mount the rad and fan in a push config, plug the power supply in, boot the system. the first tthing i noticed was the fan on the radiator didnt even bother to try to spin. and yes i double checked all connections more than 3 times.

With This:
"Be aware when overclocking the GTX 980 Hybrid or a GTX 980 with the Hybrid upgrade kit, the stock blower fan is still used to cool the VRMs and memory on the card. The blower fan speed is based off of the temperature of the GPU, and as GPU temperatures with be far lower than with just the stock cooler, you may need to set a custom fan curve or manually increase the fan speed with PrecisionX to keep these parts of the card cool while overclocking. If you experience instability or artifacting while overclocking, try increasing the fan speed and see if that resolves the problem."

I set my GPU Fan a 60% to 70% and with my case closed up I do not hear the Blower fans.
For everyday use I have it set to 40%. For Folding or Crunching I set it to 70%.
Now if my case is open and I have my face in the case yes I can hear the Blower fans.

This card is worth it more than you want to think.
As with my image posted above my back plate get warm but not Hot not that different then any of my GPUs on Water.
