Meh. I have a 970 SC ACX 2.0, just started a step-up to the new SSC, I only have to pay for the shipping. Anyone recommend waiting for the FTW+ and paying 30-50 dollars more? Considering it's just a few mhz more, which I can fix by overclocking, and essentially the same card (correct me if I'm wrong) but with just a back plate, is it worth it?

Well you are in a great spot though.  You get to upgrade your SC to a new SSC which is a much better card and not have to pay anymore (shipping of course).  And no one can comment on the FTW+ yet since it hasn't been released yet and we have no idea what it will actually be.  All we know is that it will have at least what the new SSC has plus a back plate and higher clocks.  No idea if those are the only differences or not until we get official word from eVGA.

The new SSC does not come with a back plate while the FTW+ will.  That memory MOSFET cooling plate is on the front of the card, not the back plate.  And yes there were pictures of the new SSC with a back plate, but they never said that it actually comes with one.  A little misleading, but not false advertisement.

Thanks for clearing that up,

also, if the 970 FTW+ IS going to be added, why not the 980 FTW too,
EVGA could make a few more bucks and please a lot i'm sure that would not mind spending a little more for the 980 FTW, ($30 more than the the 980 ACX) AND imho the best card of all the maxwell series so far ,after all, you can only step up once, make it worth it

Ya, I agree with you.  Wish it came with one and I missed out on the free give a way, but hopefully a new back plate will be available within the next few weeks for the SSC.  But, I knew it didn't come with one when I purchased it because newegg doesn't show it.

I wouldn't push it too far. I'm still wondering why all 900 series step-up models are ACX only. No love for blower style cards I guess.
