That's really lame, but totally expected.

EVGA Backplate is NOT compatible with the EK Waterblock!
 
The EVGA Backplate uses both screws and holes of size 2.5 while the EK Waterblock uses screws and holes of size 3.
The size 3 screws from the WB do not fit through the holes and fittings of the BP and vice versa the size 2.5 screws don't fit into the WB.
While trying to assemble the WB I actually considered the solution of expanding the BPs holes to make the size 3 screws fit but even the screws heads wont fit into the fitting when expanding the hole itself... I actually gave up and will now send the BP back to EVGA...

But if you find longer size 3 screws and that you let them sit on top of the backplate it might work.
 
I did that with my 670FTW.  Here's a picture that might help explain what I did.

All I know is that EVGA and EK is working on the block but I don't know if it will be an HydroCopper block made by EK but sold by EVGA as usual or an EK block sold by us or even both.

Although I really have plenty of screws to choose from I didn't had exactly the ones you seem to have there and after waiting ages for that block I doubt you really want me to order those things somewhere online and wait for them again, do you?! If that's a known issue why the hell don't EK add them to the package or even choose to take screws of size 2.5 since EVGA uses them originally?

M3 screw size is more commonly used than 2.5. I am surprised that EVGA ones are m2.5 ...

First, we never make our block to be compatible with the companies backplates because we don't have the backplates in hands and when they fit it's just a happy thing for the customers.
 
Second, all our gpu blocks uses the same thread size screw why would we do something special for EVGA? What happen if MSI would decide to use M4 or 6-32 would we have to have special standoff to be specific to every GPU brand out there??
 
Third, the initial purpose of a waterblock is too cool a graphics card. To achieve this you put the card to it's bare PCB. So all we have to do is to have our screwing points to align with the screw holes on the PCB. The backplate is not a priority when a block is made.

I agree that the priority is on the PCB and not the backplate but I guess in case of these high-grade cards most people (90+%) are using backplates and I also guess if it was possible most of them (50+%) would prefer to use the EVGA BP. All I was thinking about is that you could at least try to make your customers happy and fulfill their wishes.
I admit I have no clue which screw is more public 2.5 or 3 and I also admit I have no clue how much more effort it is for you to make the block fit on size 2.5 screws but you could at least offer a work-around and tell customers which screws they need to make the EVGA BP fit with the cooler... why not offer the screws you have used for your 670 there as a optional addition to the block-order?!
 
Talking about this... can you specify which screws exactly you have been using there to make it fit or even better link them?!
 

Nice work EK! Cards are now very cool, only had an hour to do some quick testing last night and I think 34C was the highest temp a saw with 1.45V. Spent most my time rebending two new acrylic tubes for the gpu loop. I took some quick pics this morning, sorry they suck but I was tired after the install last night. I did notice the back plate gave me trouble in slot one. Very close to the memory slots. Good thing I did a test fit with one card before hand. There seems to be almost no clearance to the memory slots. MB is a Rampage V Extreme X99. Over all very pleased with the quality and performance.[/URL]
