Without the GFX Card inbetween just by comparing the block to the BP I can say it looks like most of the holes fit (although not all of them!)...

Let me take some pictures for you...

Edit: EVGA BP has holes for all required screws of the EK WB! However the BP has even more holes (and more screws) than the WB on the same area. Without the card inbetween it's hard to tell if it's possible to make use of all of the BPs holes and screws... pictures will follow in a minute!

Here comes the pics...

Yes I know these are very bad quality but that is the best I could do for you right now. There is no guarantee that it either will fit or not... judge by yourself! I marked the 3 different categories of matches (green), matches with holes in BP only (yellow) and misses on WB (red).

Here you go:

I hope these help ya...

Mine just arrived at work.
Can't wait to go home tonight, slap them onto my Classy's and get started on the new build :)

can you check if the EVGA backplates are compatible please!!

That's one of the first things I'll be checking once I get home tonight.
I've got the EVGA backplates on mine, so I guess I'll find out when trying to put the block on them ;)

Have you installed your blocks on your classy?

Which Classy do you have? 2988 or 3988?

I want some GPU awesomeness pictured!!!

People probably agree with me, EK 980 Classy block is little nicer than EK 780 Classy block.
This time they covered and sensitive hot area on back side of card.

EVGA Backplate is NOT compatible with the EK Waterblock!

The EVGA Backplate uses both screws and holes of size 2.5 while the EK Waterblock uses screws and holes of size 3.
The size 3 screws from the WB do not fit through the holes and fittings of the BP and vice versa the size 2.5 screws don't fit into the WB.
While trying to assemble the WB I actually considered the solution of expanding the BPs holes to make the size 3 screws fit but even the screws heads wont fit into the fitting when expanding the hole itself... I actually gave up and will now send the BP back to EVGA...
