I just ordered my backplates, next is either the cards themselves or the water blocks. Waiting on pack pay to come through for my disability but the VA likes to take their time.
So if the water blocks are out by the time that happens I will more then likely order those before they sell out, then get the blocks and start my X99 build.

So, do we know if these are for sure going to be compatible with the 980 classified backplate? Or will an EK one need to be purchased as well?

I personally have heard no news about an EVGA branded water block. But I know EK is working on one.

What I'm asking is if these, upcoming EK 980 classy water blocks, are compatible with EVGA's 980 classy backplate or will an EK backplate be required.

I know reference backplates are compatible with the EK FC980, but am wondering if that will remain the same here.

They better be! They will have one pissed builder right here if they aren't! I just ordered 3 classy back plates yesterday for over $60!
Besides, EK's back plates are ugly and boring.
