with the 970 doing an 18 and the 570 doing a 17 im pulling 500 watts at the socket
that is still a safe area with a 750 watt psu right?

With a high quality PSU, you should be able to run at 100% 750/.92=815 watts at the wall.
Even an average quality unit should have no worry at 80% continuous load. 750*.8/.8= 750 watts at the wall.

general air flow to your MB VRM, cards and their VRM is a more likely issue with the continuous loads of FOLDING. If your PSU is of an average or better quality, you should have no worry unless your cat/dog has filled it with hair. ;)

Scarlet-Tech
Milestone time for me... I broke 150 Team and 1500 Project Simultaneously.  And I am finally over 50 million.

I should probably live on base at the next place, just so I can have more free electricity, LOL.  The fold may get expensive in the future, running two x processors and looking to get 2-3 more GK110 GPU's (that part is in the air for now).

Congrats Scarlet-Tech.....and your kickin a.. in the TZC too

I just broke 25 mil....not bad for folding on and off for 7 months

its an antec tp750 80% silver i believe
its a few years old, but it has never given me problems
and i keep the case and components pretty clean
i dont really need to worry about the motherboard components when im only folding with cards, do i?

on another note
will it cause any problems in my system to put my gtx 570 back in and have it fold too?
i have the power connections and i think my 750 watt psu could handle it
what do you guys think?

It should not hurt anything to put you 570 in under your other card. But you will most likely have to reinstall drivers. Not sure how fha will react though but it should find it ok.

Everything went fine. Reinstalled drivers and all is well except fah has them backwards.

un4givn,

Follow write-up here to rectify the mis-mapping of your GPU slots. Had the same issue recently.

*Keep in mind that your OpenCL and CUDA indexes *may not* necessarily be the same value* (eg. on one of my 970s and my old 680 (3 GPUs total in the system) the OpenCL index required "1", while the CUDA index required "2" for the 970. Vice versa for the 680.)
