I for one play at 5760x1080. I need the best cards in SLI, they're barely enough to run the newest games at the highest settings.

SO TRUE, and 2 of these cards should do that well, as far as g-sync surround goes, it would require a third card? not my area of tech skills but I think it would require a third display port, so 3-way 980 classified in SLI , should run g-sync 144 at 5760x1080 awesome. no? 3D too?

I'm right there with you man.  I missed my chance yesterday and other chances all week.  Was only able to get the Hydro Copper block for the 980cls.  It will be sitting all by itself until they restock AND I'm luck enough to be around to get one.  One day I will SLI, but for now just one would be awesome.

Same here.  I want two, but I'll take one to start with and tinker with and pick up the second one later.

That's HW modding... I want to know if i can play with a software adjustment, without voiding my warranty.

I was just showing you that if the safest voltage is considered to be between 1.5 - 1.6Vcore using LN2 cooling, Then the safest voltage on air or water cooling is IMO probably going to be like my EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin Editions with a modded Bios from Skyn3t that I didn't go over 1.35Vcore using my EVBot controller or the Classy voltage tool from Overclock.net.
 
If you want a modded Bios for the EVGA GTX 980 Classified, you can find all the necessary Tools at Kingpincooling.com (Link shown below), But as EVGA has stated, Even though they say you may use 3rd party Bios's, You do so at your own risk of Voiding your warranty if something goes wrong and damages the Card.
 
Once again I will say it is Your Choice on what you want to do with software adjustments......

Thanks, It was working good with four GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0's in 4-Way SLI, But now I still have quite a chore to find a Way to obtain two more Classifieds in order to update my 4-Way SLI Rig somehow First!

 
I was thinking you could still run them in 1 and 2 slot 4-way with 2 of the others but you would need a flex-sli bridge because of the height difference.
 

I doubt seriously if using two "reference" PCB cards would work in combination with two "non-reference" PCB Classifieds.
Also, if you tried to use the modded Bios's made for the GTX 980 Classifieds on the reference cards, You would turn those cards into Nice Desktop Paper weights!
