WOW that classified price is crazy high guess I will be skipping the classy this series. I just don't understand why its priced so high oh well guess I am going with the 980sc. I don't see any value in paying a $130 premium but that just my opinion. Its strange they decided to rise it so high in the past it has always been $20 to $40 more....

I do wonder what it is we are getting for that premium of $130? a few Mhz stock and a different colored cooler?

This is why the price went up... http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2235741

Well that explains the difference between the reference and ACX cooler prices, but the differences between the classified and others is still pretty high

Classified: $700
Reference SC: $630
Reference: $600
ACX SC: $570
ACX: $550

so going from the base model that is $550 to the classified is a total of $150
I'm seeing $20-30 for stock -> factory OC, $50 for "stock ACX" -> reference cooler, and $150 for all that classified offers
If we assign a value of $50 to the OC then we have $100 left over for the cooler and whatever other changes it has (2 8-pins instead of 2-6 pins, triple bios, and uh... red cooler instead of a blue one?)'

It should at least have something more than that imo.

I'm really starting to wonder if non-reference anything is worth it, I have a GTX 780 ti classified kingpin, and it can't stay stable even at it's factory set OC (I'm RMAing it finally) maybe it's just bad luck, but I'm not seeing any real reason to spend extra, a lot of extra, or a TON or extra for a design that looks different but uh, doesn't do much.

It kind of explains it... Why are the MSI, ASUS, PNY, etc. reference cards (reference cooler) still $30-50 cheaper?

Roughly 27% price increase over the Reference card...

Does it perform 27% better? I guess benchmarks and time will tell.

Because they (MSI, ASUS, PNY, etc) are buying the reference PCB's directly from NVIDIA. EVGA is no longer buying them directly from NVIDIA, EVGA is now manufacturing their own reference cards based off of NVIDIA reference PCB design. Does this mean better quality? Nobody knows.

Not to hate on EVGA but I waited a few extra days in hopes of the Classified being reasonably priced and this happens. I'm content with my ACX 2.0 however. I just could've had the card by now if I hadn't waited.

I feel the same way.. I've been waiting for the classified to buy a 980 but now that its here, I'm not sure if its a good deal. Doesn't seen very fair.

WOW is correct. That is pricey. For $699 you think it even has a backplate as none of the other 980's due so far beyond the reference model?

I was so excited by this but after seeing the US price, lowered boost clock and the lack of a Backplate,
I ended up grabbing another 780Ti Classy instead.
I'm going to hold out for a 980Ti classy if released or next gen.

Not to mention the availability is going to be limited what with the number actually available
and the mad rush by people trying to get their hands on one.
It is getting worse with every release, would think manufacturers would learn from previous years,
they need to increase the number of cards available on release.
The EVGA 980's available from sellers here in Australia sold out within 2-3 days .. just crazy.
