Hi,

I've been keeping my eye on the EVGA GTX 980 SUPERCLOCKED [Reference Cooler - P/N: 04G-P4-2982-KR] since launch to purchase in the coming few weeks, however now I noticed that Amazon and NewEgg show the card as 'no longer available' or 'discontinued'. Is this card truly discontinued? If so, May I know why?

I am not too keen on the ACX2.0 version as I like the design and function of the reference cooler [blower fan].

comrade
On Newegg, right now, 1:00 PM Central time, it shows the EVGA GTX 98 SC,  part number EVGA 04G-P4-2982-KR, is showing as 'Out of stock'.  (As are almost all of the 980's.)  Nothing about it being discotinued or no longer available.

Then you've gotten some bad information, the cards are selling out as soon as they come in but it's not discontinued.

Thank you guys - I did see 'not available' on newegg and freaked out [not available usually only shows up on their discontinued products].

Also not to mention a lot of people having some little issue over another with the 980 SC Reference cards [Abnormal clock speeds, boot or screen recognition issues etc]. I thought maybe EVGA found a defect and swapped the card with their own ACX2.0 variant.

Glad to hear the card is still in production - and I dont worry about these problems people post... considering its selling like hot cake and it's a brand new card, we are bound to find some issue or the other... nothing that can't be fixed :)

I'm in the So Cal area...I have been checking daily this on Newegg and Frys. The one on Frys was totally removed... called them and they said it shows "discontinued"?! Checked at Newegg's site and it says "It may or may not be restocked"?!

Can we have some clear and open talk from the actual peeps from EVGA?

...exactly - You can not find the card with simple search in Amazon and if you do access the card - it says "We don't know when or if this card will be in stock".

I second the motion - we need someone from EVGA to clear this out...

Has the card been discontinued? If so, why?

BTW - Living in Pakistan, a retailer has the card for Rs77000 [$770] but i'm not willing to pay premium for it... also worried that these card may have a chronic issue now...

Well anyhoo.. I gave up on trying to get this one:

and just got this one:

I was lucky enough to find and purchase the ACX 2.0 version from Amazon just now and should receive it hopefully in two days with "Prime shipping". It is not as sleek looking as the reference design but two fans with the same 980 chip... let's hope its ideal for me. Just puzzled why its stronger than the stock version but yet it is cheaper than the weaker version. I made a thread about it.

Also looking at the EVGA website - the prices have been hiked up.

980 SC Reference shows for $619 and regular 980 Reference is for $599

The 980 SC was for $569 at launch...

This sucks... :( I dont want to go for ACX 2.0 - I haven't heard positive things about it...
