Hey I recently purchased two EVGA GTX 780 ACX (last month or so), does this mean I also can step-up?
Never used this option before.

And what would be a fair assesment of how much I would have to pay extra approx? Thnx.

I ordered the backplate for my 780ti Classified. Can we get confirmation if the new card will fit the older backplate or if I need to return it?
Also I'm kinda confused. People keep saying you cant step up from a classified. Just to clarify. Can I step up from a 780TI Classified 3GB to a 780TI Classified 6gb?

You can step up from classified.... But not to another classified. I mentioned something about classified users in a different tier in the step up forum, but got shot down and made fun of.

Can we get someone from EVGA to comment on this. It seems there is some confusion. Why would you not be able to step up when they are going to release the 780 ti classified in 6GB

If I have a gtx 760 4gb SC w/ACX, is it really beneficial to step up to the 780 6gb? Does the 780 really perform that much better than the 760? I'm not so focused on the extra vram, as I think the 4gb I have now should be plenty for the foreseeable future.

Last I checked EVGA's policy is that you can only step-up to "vanilla" cards but considering that they are allowing a step-up from the same series 780 to 780 which is not normally allowed. You should be good on stepping up your classified card but likely only to a stock 780 Ti 6GB.

Graphics Cards

  • EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.
  • Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
  • Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)
  • Customers who received their EVGA graphics card as part of a complete computer system are not eligible - except for those listed on our approved system vendor list.
Graphics Cards Examples:
  • GTX 460 → GTX 580: YES (Upgraded GPU)
  • GTX 460 768MB → GTX 460 1GB: NO (Same GPU)
  • GTX 570 → GTX 480: NO (Must be GPU upgrade)

.....read again..... You can step up FROM a classified, but not TO a classified. Been that way FOREVER

Quick example.... 780 classified steps up to 780ti reference or ACX only... Not the classified tier.

It would seem they are making special exceptions for these cards. Wouldn't it stand to reason that they may be stepping up the classifieds to a classified card.

One could only hope.  As I said before, I would even pay around $150 per card if they would let me step up.  They could sell mine on B-Stock for nearly that difference,  and stand to lose Nothing.  Will they do that?  No, because if an enthusiast wants the 6gb. they will find a way...  If that individual can't find a way, then he doesn't want it, obviously :-)

EVGA, I would love for you to make me eat these words.
