Interesting. I just acquired a 780gtx classified 3gb. The communication suggests that this new card is a base version with 6gb. I wonder if there will be a 6gb classified version, or whether the extra 3gb provides more performance than the classified's extra clock speed? Is upgrading from a classified even allowed in program? I chose the classified as it was on sale for basically the price of a regular 780.

Yes, you can upgrade from a Classified.

Wait, you can upgrade FROM a classified, but not to a classified, even if you are upgrading from a classified..  This is why I am not buying into the NVidia scam.  EVGA said, flat out, there would be NO 6GB 780/780Ti...  I understand that this is mostly NVidias fault, but EVGA isn't going to help the enthusiast customer that spent $1600-1900 in this situation..  THAT is a shame..  I have had my cards 3 months, and absolutely love them, but will not touch another EVGA or NVidia product, after this and the 750ti debacle, until full maxwell line up is released.  I wish EVERYONE would follow that example, and FORCE NVidia to release Maxwell rather than the SAME REVAMPED GPU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a pathetic move from Nvidia....  Way to screw the customers who invested into something that will return Nothing now.

How reliable is this information about a 6G 780ti being released? I've seen this on a few sites and I'm a bit skeptical as this would seem to take some of the glory from the Titan Black.

Who cares about the titan Black when there is a titan Z that costs 2.5 times as much?

when NVidia pulls its head out of it asterisk asterisk asterisk, I will buy into it again, but until the asterisk asterisk asterisk asterisk  them.  I won't support them when these cards die out.  1 750ti, 2 760 SC ACX, and 2 780ti classifieds... and they "had a major delay on the maxwell architecture...  Basically, they see more money on the same crap, and they are going to rob the ignorant customers that won't refuse to buy into the stupidity.

I agree they are milking every last drop from the 700 series. These versions should have been released much much earlier which would have allowed various companies to release aftermarket cards, instead they have chosen to make everything obsolete within weeks of its release.

If EVGA allowed the Classified users to pay, say $175 plus shipping, to step-up their cards, I wouldn't even be too mad about that.. But no.. This is the "Enthusiast Level" where you pay to get screwed out of the step-ups when better stuff is released.  Awesome deal there..  everyone below you gets treated while you get the awesome feeling of watching it happen :-)  Gotta love that.

This makes my titan perches well over  a year look better and better

I didn't have to keep buying and selling cards each time a new card came out !

The step-up program is going to be great for newly buyers

Does anyone know if the board changes? For example; would the EK waterblocks on my EVGA GTX 780 SC be compatible with the 6GB 780?
