Hadron Hydo Case.
Mostly done, I need to get a 6gb/s 180-90 connector for the harddrive still and am waiting for the OS to show up in the mail. I should probably mention that my previous computer is a 7 year old laptop(Dual 1.9 ghz + 128 MB integrated graphics and 2 GB of Ram... ). It sorta had to go... badly. This is the first new desktop for me in about 7 years. And the previous desktop, before the laptop, was a slightly refreshed HP from 1996-7 (upgraded to XP, 20 GB HD, 256 MB of Ram in 2000) is still around... somewhere I haven't fired it up in years.
Work in progress( =/ still cant link yet... must be the lack of posts)
I completely removed the stock fans as they were non controllable and replaced them with Noctua NF-F12 PWM Cooling Fans. Also, by removing the stock fans you do gain enough space that you can run the tubing that comes with the kit and not have to use the metal coil. Which is nice. I do wish however that I can cut away as much of the case along the top as possible but I'll do that down the road.
Parts List(
In the future I think I will order another WC from EVGA and mount it above the first one and then have the water pass through in Series for extra cooling and then maybe toss on another two NF-F12 fans. The Ram is Corsair 3000Mhz 8 GB sticks (16 GB total) and the chip is the 4 Ghz 6700K Skylake. The motherboard is the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT. I do however plan on getting the GTX 980 Ti Hydro Copper down the road. I think it will fit... The Intel on board graphics is supposed to be fairly good and that will have to do for now.
My biggest, and only real complaint, really is probably the fact that the stock fans are not controllable and the wide strip of metal that exists between the fans.
With just playing around with the on board BIOS and letting it sit for an hour transmitting to the screen the temp never went above 25c and the fans were hardly on. Seems cool enough. But like I mentioned, I have plans to go overboard on the cooling for next year. I have also been figuring out how to fab all the metal needed to make the case look stock while still having two WCs(one on top of the other) and the stock grilling placed on top. I also plan on installing a T at the very top (with a basin for filling) and very bottom with a valve so that the whole system can be drained and filled as needed. I think I can do it. I have all the machine tools to do it.
Long term upgrade plans.
Install a GTX 980 HC or 980 Ti HC.
Second WC for a series loop.
Upgrad the Ram to 32 GB eventually.
Maybe larger HD in mirror then the current 1 TB WD Blue
EDIT: Added in images and a link. Build is now up and running and no problems. Idle temp is 21-25c and running flat out is 51-55c.(fans are turning about 450 rpm and not nearly the max of 1500 rpms) Could not be happier tbh when you consider that the Idle temp of my Dual 1.9 ghz laptop is basically 41-43c and running flatout it is closer to 58-65c. And the old laptop is slower then crap... =/
