Started the fixture plate last night.  Before:

After:

Nothing special yet.  Just a flat surface.  It has to be flipped over, surfaced, and the edges cleaned up.  I hope to finish that today.

I guess I am not savvy enough to recognize which piece this is, can anyone elaborate? I see the VRM waterblock on the OP, am I being overly excited in thinking you are making a full waterblock for the dark? If thats the case I will be placing an order when you are ready. good luck!

The piece in the picture is simply a very solid and very flat piece of aluminium nateman_doo can screw down to the CNC table, and also screw down a few blocks of copper to make more than 1 block at a time. This is the first thing needed to produce these blocks more than 1 at a time.

If you check-out nateman_doo's X79 Extreme11 thread, you'll see he's made a similar base that can make 4 blocks at a time.

Great to see this underway nateman_doo. Really looking forward to this.

Hope you're having a good christmas season so far!

sadly an evening full of machining, and all i got was 4 bad holes, and a broken coaxial indicator.  One day things will go my way.  On the bright side, I fixed the indicator, and I know what needs to be done.

Not to leave an empty thread, I took a picture of machinist pr0n... a super smooth surface.  would rival some lapped CPU's.

so now I am where I wanted to be the day before:

A disgusting chunk of metal (with oversized bolt holes)  ready to be made into the fixture plate to hold the dark blocks.

had to fix this indicator, which finally works to get to the center of each hole to bore them out larger.  Really this has nothing to do with the block, but just to show you what goes into the start of a new block.
