does it ultimately solve the RSOD issue under vantage (when card is OC'ed and otherwise stable)?

Not particularly, but the new version improves compatibility with some newer cards, so I would recommend trying it perhaps.

ok, thanks. upgraded my 670 ref last night. will do some Vantage after work and see if it can survive. what makes me wondering is why so far (older firmware) it could pass 3dmark11 without an issue in DX11 mode and at same time it couldn't pass Vantage because of RSOD (DX10 problem?)

Updated, the update went smooth for me as it did with the previous FM update. Ran Heaven 3.0, Mark 3D and Vantage so far and haven't experienced any real gains. I'm using my last known stable overclock at the moment and am going to game for a bit with a couple titles I was having issues with before. If all goes well I'll test the stability out with a higher overclock. With my original bios that came with the cards my cards overclocked higher and were more stable than with the previous FW update. We'll see if this batch does me justice.

Because it adds support for Hynix memory boards, also has some of the backbone for EFI support, but EFI is not enabled right now because of compatibility issues with some motherboards.

Could you release a 'special' version with EFI support so I can use Secure Boot with Windows 8? I'm willing to try and see if it works with my Sabertooth X79.

WOW this new firmware made my temps go down about 12C. OK lets start by when I was running the very first firmware for my cards while watching a YouTube video with my cards fans maxed out, room temp at 75F, temps went to 43C. But when I updated to this latest firmware, when I watched a YouTube video my temps are now at 31C. But here is the catch, I am running my cards fans at 60% instead of max and my room temp is 79F and I still have lower temps!! This is weird. IDK if the firmware did actually help lower my temps. I did nothing what so ever to the cards or my case. Everything is orginal as I had it with the very first firmware that my cards had. But hey I am not complaining. Good on my part. Now it I want to see what my temps are like on FULL load.

Sounds nice, if the firmware had something to do, which is likely :D
I'll update myself as soon as I get my board back from RMA.

Did you RMA your 670 FTW? I was having problems as well Card worked fine for few months and when I updated to the latest driver started having issues and RMA mines few days ago? Firmware was the problem this whole time?

wonder if i can get a modded 80.04.4b.00.70 bios for a 670. need the fan set to 70 idle and running and need the gpu clock offset set to -100 mhz? BF3 runs boost clock at 1085 and i want max 985
I am getting random crashes RSOD in BF3 only and i think its from the boost clock speed, i have EVGA software running the card -100mhz on the gpu clock offset to limit the max gpu boost clock to 985mhz in hopes that this simple change will eliminate crashes in this game.
Have played quite a few hours of BF3 and it seems that in my case changing the stock GPU CLOCK OFFSET from the stock position of +0MHZ to -100MHZ has indeed eliminated my BF3 intermiten RSOD crashes. My Evga GTX 670 does not like a boost clock of 1085MHZ in BF3. All of the other games seems ok with stock card settings.

Like to say thanks to the ALL EVGA TECH Staff for helping me pinpoint the problem stated above. Lee pinpointed a slightly above spec on my power supply and it seems to be what was causing the RSOD and Blackscreen. My rig seems to be running fine with the only change being the power supply.  Im very glad the staff gave me good advice in my specific case as i do not want to waste EVGA RMA service on a EVGA GTX670 that is working as designed.

My EVGA GTX670 has been very reliable for playing BF3 for hours straight. I am using the updated bios and the 306.97 driver. The card is running stock speeds out of the box

Well seems RSOD are back again. Have went back to -100Mhz on the gpu clock offset to play BF3. Going to see if i get anymore RSOD.
Trying my best to figure out what is causing the RSOD.
