I stick it to Maximum Performance because I sleep better at night......jk jk jk.....I don't care about power usage so..... 

You can also set the power profile for individual games as well. I feel as if I get slightly smoother gameplay in surround resolutions if I turn off adaptive.

my evga 670 ftw is stuck at maximum performence i tried putting it on adaptive but when its on it wont downclock 
i tried reinstalling drivers didnt help please help  me i dont like maximum pref and if i dont use precision x to amp up the fan the temps go as high as 75 degrees and non load though its running at 1175mhz cuz of max pref please help
