M16 Its not often you get a chance to witness the “Pillars of Creation” that belong to the famous Eagle Nebula, known as M16. At 7000 lightyears away, this young open cluster of stars is situated in the constellation of Serpens. Its famous towers of gas within the nebula are approximately 9.5 lightyears high, or to put that in perspective, around 90 trillion kilometers!
