Well for a CPU that costs more than 1000 EUR or more than 1200 USD if I'd have to translate the same value.. I would of at least expected it to go beyond the 5.5Ghz mark, if the word badass comes to mention, which it doesn't to me

It's a nice OC if on air compared to it's stock speed, but still for it's price class, it's certainly not worth buying imo. Cheaper CPU's seem to OC much higher speeds than these over priced X series CPU's.

If I were you, I'd try sell it and get the cheaper 3930K or 3820 and do the same speed, which is more fun to me and it gives the end result a much higher value
And this way you'd only save more money too and get more fun out of your OC

I have a friend that work's for Intel here in Portland, OR that let me threw him buy the CPU for $495.00 US. I decited to get the CPU for haft off. This is my first round of OCing it's inpress me that I was able to OC it by 1.5 ghz  to 4.83. 46.0 CPU Ratio and a 105.0 BCLK Frequency. I'm still working @ this if you would not mind helping me by pointing me to a relable guide. Or a set of setting's that would help me. I'm planing on going for 5.0 ghz - 5.3ghz. I don't want to push it too far and blow it up. l0l

Ah okay then it's a good start in the right direction, but for most people it would be a bad OC since they do have to pay 1000 EUR or more lol, pretty retarded, for that same amount I can buy two 16 Core Opterons and destroy them.

But yeah I see what you mean there, 495 USD is a good deal indeed, it's cheaper than a 3930K even, a good deal indeed, I have similar contacts to get my Opterons from, so i see where you are coming at

When I look at all the water cooling rigs here I so want to do it till I add up the cost! I mean I had to budget JUST to get the low end LGA 2011 I7-3820! I got an AMAZING deal on the Lian Li case that I will NEVER see again so that got a bit of the money! Good thing I live near a Micro Center as they DO have the cheapest CPU prices. I think I am pretty happy with 4.3 GHZ on the cpu and I'll have to wait on the Ivybridge E since Intel will be bringing out the Haswell chip first! This place as given me tons of ideas for things and while my rig is pretty plain compared to some here, I have gotten MANY an idea from here and I will always be grateful for that!

Hmm to me water cooling is over exaggerated for my Workstation needs, it's nice to see it with them OC setups though, it's enjoyable to look at and educate to a certain point  as cable management goes, very handy

But for me it's no need, my CPU's are server based, they don't go beyond the load temps of 37 to 38C and I am just using simple ASUS Triton 70 HSF's on them.

I can get the temps down to 27C if I go Noctua's, but it's still no where near the threshold temps, which are 80C+ heh, so I am not even worried about that and it saves me much lesser hassle My main system is 3 years and 4 months old now and so far it needs no more upgrades.
