Awesome man!

Please do take your time there though, it took me like 7 hours, just due to that I was making the list, passing out +1's and posting a comment on each MR page too rofl!

Do you plan on getting a second GTX 690?

If so could you post you setup in this topic?

That is my topic for all the EVGA Quad SLI only setups with two Dual GPU cards xD

Hey

Yeh mate already have a 2nd 690. But I have a new mobo and cpu also to go with them. Just havent had time to build it yet. I did try my 2 690 in this machine but it ended up bottlenecking. Even when pushing to the limits. I now have a 2011 socket mobo and cpu which will enable better speeds. Pity no Extreme edition of the Ivy coming out. Bah humbug to Haswell is all I can say :)

Why not grab an 8 core Xeon E5 class CPU? 8 cores 16 threads ;)
These are monsters and you won't need them weaker 6 core i7 Xtreme things for the same money you have more cores and more threads and greater OC results too, even I'd prefer to go Dual CPU with such cards, my Dual Six Core Opteron 2435 D0 can handle Dual 690's without speed loss hehe.

Going Dual Xeon is also an idea, Supermicro has some sweet Dual LGA 2011 boards too and G34, which I'd go for, but yeah once a Dual Opteron Die Hard always one.

The motherboard my main setup uses is this one :)
http://www.supermicro.com...CP55/H8DAE-2.cfm
It's the best motherboard I ever bought, even being 3 years old it handles everything without speedloss. CPU's are from 2010, 2.6Ghz Six Core OpteronDP 2435 D0 Istanbuls, my GTX 295 RE's are good enough for my needs, it's mainly used for MD5 Hashing, HD Video compiling, converting from gamenights I have with the Descent Task Force, Flight & Ship Simulations are also done with it, and some new-gen games like CoD MW2  and JC2, but that is really it. Simulations, the main games played on it are Descent 1 & 2 with the Descent task Force, during gameplay I record and remix the game sessions with trance or other styles of music, it allows me to run 24 threads without speed loss, even that it has 12 CPU cores.

I had an i7 even OC'ed to 4Ghz + it was too underpowered, thus I sold it, as for my X79 setup I am not pleased with it and I hardly use it thus I sold it also after only having it for like 4 weeks. 4 cores is insufficient as for Hyperthreading for the things I use my system for HT was rather useless than useful.

Oh well.

Well I already have the Extreme i7 3960X and the Rampage IV Extreme. Just not built it yet. The mobo doesnt fit in a 500R chassis without modification. My dremil is tucked away and am way to lazy to go digging in the shed for it so I just bought the Switch 810. Pretty much ending up with a whole new rig which will be nice for comparisions and benchmarking etc. I like to push things to the limit as much as I can.
PS is there no Rep system in the forums? Was looking to give you rep but I cant see it anywhere.

Not to be mean or so I could and still can't interest overclocking much, it is cool to see people reach records, but you will never see me doing such things

To me it's hardware abuse, in the end it always results to an unreliable setup, especially under high workloads for long periods of time, it also lessons the lifespan of the hardware, just never has been my area. Server based hardware has proven me what reliability, stability, redundancy and lifespan is all about.

It seems I have much different goals that don't require and need such actions.

Ps.

Rep? I dunno what you mean by Rep sorry! xD

Rep = Reputation. You give it if someone helps you or the likes. Its just a way users can formally thank the person. Rep then builds up, the more you help someone. The more rep the more ppl look to you for help as you will be trusted. I like it personally.

As for overclocking...I can FULLY appreciate that reply. When I started I felt a little like that. But then knowing what I know now I have a totally different outlook on it.
Let me put it this way. Lets pretend you buy a radio and that radio has only 1 chanel. But yet you know if you twist a knob a little you can tune a 2nd chanel. Would you not like to have 2 chanels instead of one. Thats how I look at it. I pay top money for hardware, so I want that said hardware to do as much as it can for as long as it can.

Prime95 is a well known test for stability. On 5Ghz I boosted my 3dm11 results a fair bit. I have no issues with temps and no issues with BSODS / game lag etc etc that you would find in a badly overclocked rig. Again though I do agree it can teedious and sometimes not worth it in the long run. Just depends on what kind of computer aspect you are interested in I guess.

yeah :) @ 2CPU.com we use BarsWF x64 since it supports CUDA & Multi CPU very well and it gives a perfect indication on how powerful your setup is :) Prime95,is also used along side with Cinebench x64 and PC performance Test x64 Pro :)

I am Gold Leader @ 2CPU.com feel free to drop by, it's my first forum I took part of , been a member there since May 08, 2001 If you ever plan going 2CPU, it is the place to be for all your 2CPU system needs.

I dunno where I helped you though hehe, as far as I can recall only a topic host can thank people, so just say you are the topic post aka creator or maker you can thank people by clicking on the Thank Member button which is bottom left of their post, just next to the report post thingy on the left side of that.
