I need a bit of advice on how to proceed or troubleshoot this issue i'm having. When I hook up my 1070 FTW to my
ASUS PB258Q monitor using the displayport, I will get intermittent signal loss, maybe once every hour or so. It usually only lasts a couple of seconds, but sometimes it won't come back at all and I have to reboot. I have tried the other displayports on the card as well as a new, high quality, displayport cable and still have the same issue. This issue totally goes away if i'm using hdmi. I can live with it for now using hdmi, but I plan to get a second monitor someday and then I will have to use the displayport. Also, it just bugs me.

Has anyone else had an issue like this? I don't know for sure if its a monitor or graphics card problem, and feel kind of silly trying to replace one or the other without knowing.

Thanks,
Karl

You've got it narrowed down pretty well, it's almost definitely either the card or monitor.  Do you have another card or know someone who has one with displayport you can try?

Sadly, I only have displayport on the one card and monitor. Maybe i'll take the monitor to work or something. What a pain!

Same issue here I had to change my Cables to VESA CERTIFIED ones and my issues stopped.
I am now using the below DP Cables
Accell B142C-007B-2 UltraAV DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable with Locking Latches - 6.6 Feet (2 Meters)

Accell B142C-010B-2 10ft UltraAV DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable with Locking Latches - 10 Feet (3 Meters)

To get around it I was removing the Power Plug from the Monitor and it would come back.
Turning it on and off did nothing.

VESA CERTIFIED Cable can come out of sleep mode and so on.
You can off Power Saving and it helps.
But sometime I would turn off my monitor and come back and turn it back on but that was a no go as well.
VESA CERTIFIED Cables took care of this as well.

Hmm. I didn't know about the "VESA CERTIFIED" thing. Here is the cable I got:

(looks like I can't post links)

Doesn't have the certification in the description. I had no idea it can make such a difference!

I'll try the un-plug thing next time it doesn't come back.

Neither did I until a month or so ago.
I thought that the Amazon Basic Cables were.

I just wanted to thank the knowledgeable folks on this forum. On Bcavnaugh's recommendation, I bought a "VESA CERTIFIED" displayport cable from amazon for $10 and it totally fixed my problem!

Thanks again,
Karl
