I closed my old thread in regards to the i5 4690k seeing I upgraded to a i7 4790k, so here we go.

Now I am using the stock bios on the lightning and also using regular bios and not the LN2 bios. Wondering if I should switch it to the bios 2 (Ln2 bios) and see what it can do. In researching the LN2 bios has better overclocking, but not sure.

I'm going to try and push the 290x lightning to around 1300 on air today. Seeing I can get almost 1250 with load temps in bench marking of only 70c max I believe this card I got is a winner. I pushed my new 4790k last night to 4.9mhz with a max temp of 70c, the modifications I did to the case with the new corsair fans and replacing the thermal paste on both the gpu and cpu with some MX-4 has helped out a great bit. I'll post later with some more updates. The only problem I have right now is using msi after burner, I have my volts already at +200 oc'D at 1225/1600 but seems like afterburner will not go any higher on volts, any suggestions. Help me oc the hell out of this machine on air :)

The i7 4790k was Delidded today and replaced with some MX-4 I have a buddy of mine sending me his MSI Delid Guard to use on my mpower z97 Max, then we will see what she really can do as far as temps. As for now with the IHS  Idle temps @ 4.6mhz 1.23 volts 19-21c will do some benching later on today :)

I used the Razor Blade method, was quick and easy. This is my 3rd 1 I have done. I have done the 3770k, 4770k and now the 4790k. Been running Prime 95 on the large torture test and so far after about 30 minutes @ 4.6mhz max temps 73c

Hour gone by still max temp of 73c using Prime 95 on the most extensive Torture Test it has. But I have noticed the maxed temps with in the last 30 minutes has gone down to 65c I guess the MX-4 is breaking in :)

Get this I was using a can of that Air dust to dust the PC off during this test a few minutes ago, while I had the case on its side and the window off. I went to turn the can upside down to spray some air up through the radiator to clean it out and **** came out cold as hell, I watched my temps for a few seconds drop to 1c hahhahahhahahha. I wont try that again though

The lid is back on. The De-lid guard is something that only MSI makes where you do not have to put back on the lid and just attach your cooler straight to the die itself
