Does the intel core i5 4430 significantly hinder the GTX 1070? Some of my games (Just Cause 3, Watch_Dogs) are using like 30-40% of the gpu and the fps is below 50 down to 30 sometimes. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello,

From your testing I cannot be certain that this issue is related to your CPU or GPU. The best diagnostic tool we have will be for you to run 3d mark firestrike (free program)

Once you have ran firestrike benchmark please provide us with the link / URL to your score so that we may analyze the results and offer assistance.

I know that there are posts that answered this, but that post goes back to May 27, 2016. i.e. when the 1080 just released. Therefore, there wasn't much information to back up the replies that post had. So I will take this post to my advantage and ask here since it is similar question. I ask again just to confirm there is no bottleneck as I have seen people on youtube saying there is a bottleneck with even a 6700k

I have a core i7 4790k not oc'ed at all so that is 4.0 ghz base and 4.4 ghz boost. I have 16gb 1600 mhz ram, and I am hoping to get my hands on a gtx 1080 ftw from evga.

Do yall think I will get any bottleneck?

Sorry again for posting this even though it was already asked.

Thank you!

A bottleneck is loosely defined as whatever part of your system is impacting the performance the most. There will always be a 'bottleneck' somewhere.  Your 4790K will be fine paired with a GTX 1080. Since we know nothing about the rest of your system, we can only guess. Yes a newer Skylake processor like the 6700k might get you an FPS or two in certain CPU limited games, but is it worth upgrading your entire system for little real world gain? That is entirely up to you.
