AKA the black flashy screen of doom. Where the driver restarts because the videocard and the driver stop talking with each other, usually around 2seconds or so. It's supposed to stop the old BSOD problem.

I'm somewhat surprised to see maniacvvv post something like this. Typically he has intelligent information to share however this rant post targeting EVGA as the source problem is completely ridiculous. Just don't see any justification for a rant thread bashing the EVGA team????????

Yeah, I've seen some of his rants about drivers here & there, but the EVGA thing does seem a bit over the top IMO. Will be waiting to see another post from him now since he may have figured out his issue & is retesting. I personally haven't had any problems with any driver, Beta or WHQL since the 270 series. NOTE: Haven't tried the latest beta yet though.

maniacvvv Unexpectedly, these are -again- from the euorpean division driver team and not from the west coast A team.... Reading over the official release notes on this Beta driver, is most troubling. It appears that Nvidia has made a decision and seperated the driver development teams, with the B team (euro) taking responsiblity for 500 series and below, while the A Team (west coast) is responsible for The Kepler release drivers. I can only say that I belive this is a terrible mistake, one that is quite likely to damage Nvidia very seriously. The driver quality that has made Nvidia the premiere choice is just no longer there and is now looking alot like AMD driver development.... I will test and report back later tonight My advice: sell your nvidia cards get an amd card and get lost be happy! :)

EVGA_JacobF bobmitch EVGA_JacobF bobmitch Using these drivers...Precision will not apply overclocks to my 580SC. When I set the clocks and memory...hit apply and everything goes to 0. Not good for me Back to 290.53 and overclocks stay put. Oh well...maybe the next set. 290.53 have been some of the best I have used to date Which version of Precision? Hi Jacob... I am using Precision 2.1.2 I can set up new settings...example...set clock from 797 to 850. Memory to 2100 ...they will be there...the minute I hit "apply" they all turn to 0 and that's that... I have tried looking at this and cannot reproduce it, can you try a reinstall of Precision? This happened to me even with older drivers and it happens only when you update the drivers with precision/afterburner running and don't reboot. If you install the drivers and do a clean reboot it will work.

I gave this driver a shot.It installed fine and ran some of my newer games like Skyrim decent but some of my older stuff like The Witcher and fallout run like ship.I went back to 266.58 and got a huge performance increase on everything. The only bad thing about the older driver is that you have to make your own custom profiles to take advantage of sli for the newer games.Frankly I am a little disappointed in NVIDIA.I hope they get their act together soon.

@maniacvvv I totally get why you are upset. I do! I'd be angry to. I just want to say that I have 2x GTX 580s and I have used every last beta driver since the last WHQLs and I have been able to enable SLi and it runs fine for me. I only had a couple driver related crashes/lockups and that was with the last set. I don't know what steps you've taken to solve this but maybe you should try something else. Maybe even go as far as a clean windows install. (i didn't read the whole thread so maybe you did this, i don't know) Also, post your problems under the official driver feedback thread on nVidia's official forum, if you haven't already. I also agree you can't blame EVGA for this. They are responsible for the hardware, not nVidia's reference drivers. I hope you find a solution! Edit: Just read you solved it. Glad to see that.

Based on all this im sticking with 285.62. I have had bad luck with beta drivers in the past.. and it seems like this one is no different. looking at the release notes of the last 4 beta drivers it looks like all the B team is capable of doing is adding sli profiles and 3d vision mapping and subsequently screwing things up for a lot of us in the process..

alphazallan Is the reason why Nvidia keeps releasing beta drivers because there were so many games that came out in December? Probably because there have been so many problems with crashes and instability with the last series of drivers. The last good stable set were probably the 270.33's, up from there it's been hit or miss for everyone. It's either stable, crash city, or DOOM HAS COME! And they haven't had a set that's been stable enough to send off for certification. I don't think I've seen the nvidia forums full of crash posts, and TDR problem posts quite as badly as it has been since the 280 series were released, well ever since they they got hit with the 190 problem.

Hi all, I've been beta testing and using ATI/Nvidia cards for almost 15 years. I remember a big issue with ATI and Nvdia drivers when XP came out. I haven't run into driver issues for quite some time but I must say, this Nvidia card is making me go nuts! Driver failure since the beginning. Now it's flickering on my second screen or green screen when viewing Youtube. What makes it worst, is that I'm not even gaming!! Everything is stock all the way. Seems that the worst issue I've read in most forums is users playing BF. If only that were my case. I use this rig to work on the network in the medical field. Using beta drivers but problem went to driver not responding to serious flickering on my second screen. I stand corrected, I just got a driver failure while writing this post

Ok so I seem to be having some serious issues with this driver. I have never experienced any issues prior to this on any driver except the odd crashing in Bad Company 2 on one set but I honestly don't remember what set that was. It may have been one of the 270s. I was playing World of Tanks and noticed some artifacts and significantly lower FPS to the point that I actually had to check and see if SLI was working. I thought it was odd and thought maybe it was just the game screwing up so I defragged and cleaned my PC as it was due for the weekly cleaning anyway. Start WoT back up and immediately noticed jaggies everywhere so I hop off and run 3Dmark11. Same experience in this as in WoT so I figured out the problem wasn't just one game. I decided to roll back to the previous set of drivers because it was a known good set for me and ran more tests as well as played some World of Tanks and it appears that the artifacts have totally gone and my FPS is back up to where it should be.

I had to uninstall these, shut down my pc, drain all the power from it, let it set for a few minutes, and then restart and re-install the drivers. That is the only thing that solved my artifact issue. I even tried using older drivers after the initial install(always clean) and the problem persisted until the above fix cleared it up. I have never had any real issue with these cards until this set of drivers. I am not impressed.
