Hitcho _Nite_ its the same deal with games too, developers are just going downhill everywhere, I do indeed miss the good old days The good old days are the same as today. Drivers were ****, good or bad, games were either good or bad, hit or miss, and well ... drivers were either good or bad, or ****. You're just waxing nostalgic over the thought that it's better. I've had nvidia and ati cards all the way back from when ATI Wonder cards were being sold, and when nvidia's flagship card with the riva128 paired with a couple of Voodoo2's in SLI. Though I do remember the matrox hype train at the time too. Oh and SGI..heh. Well there's always CL too. Nah I shouldn't get on that tangent. Exactly...It has been ever thus. Folks pretending that it was rainbows and and dancing unicorns. There have ALWAYS been issues with top end enthusiast sets ups. That is part of the fun. There is a LIST of existing bugs in the drivers. Sure I can understand people getting upset that their TOP 1% of 1% system isn't perfection. On the other hand it's a bit unrealistic to expect a company to devote massive amounts of resources to an issue that only a tiny miniscule fraction of their customers is having.

Try this as sometimes just a reinstall of Precision doesn't clear out all the settings. In the Control Panel, uninstall Precision using Programs and Features applet. Then delete the EVGA Precision Folder in the Program Files (x86) folder. Reboot then reinstall Precision.

Will do, but first I have another issue going on. Since I installed 295.51, uninstalled and new reinstalled 290.53...windows no longer maintain their size. Example...I could open control panel and all the icons were large and the window maximized to fit them all. Now the window is smaller and I have a scroll bar. My inbox on email used to be full screen...now half screen...I re-maximize it and when I open again and get email...half screen again...odd...maybe a Windows glitch...but new Here is what happens when I hit apply. Set clocks to 850-1700-2100

OK...had to backtrack to 290.53 again. Oddly enough...had to reinstall Precision again. Seems going backward also causes Precision NOT to keep overclock settings when activated. Also...physx games like Mafia 2 won't even start...keep crashing...others claim to have issues with Physx games and the 295.51 drivers as well. Arkum City seems OK, though

You don't have to roll back the drivers...just close Precision and reinstall on top of itself...then it will work. Believe it or not...if you roll back...you are going to have to do that anyways... I reinstalled 295.51...then reinstalled Precison....then ran 3D Mark 11 again...benchmarks show that the overclock stays...

I could not get the beta drivers to install. It uninstalls my old ones and then tries to install the beta ones and then says it fails. Does not give a reason why.

Sigh......yes the program was not running when i installed the new drivers, and yes i reinstalled precision as i do with every driver install. I just think it doesnt like my setup. Nothing more, I am pleased to hear others are having success. Whatever the piece of hardware or bios setting or system setting or planet alignment - it does not matter and not worth trying to find out why its not working. The previous "beta" worked and thats what im going to continue to use. ...that is until the next "beta" release lol.

I always shut down Precision when installing new drivers...then I always reboot and things work perfectly. This is the first time a set of drivers has caused the problem. No biggie...reinstallation of Precision fixed it.

Expect that they will bench exactly the same, give or take 5-10 points, of the 290.53 drivers.

I would like to report that I now have the driver working (so far) It "appears" that my problem might (might) have been my ignoring the dual videocard "Standard VGA Adaptor" failure notice... For all driversets since I got my 580's, I have used the same install process. During the reboot (after uninstalling my current driver) Windows boots without a driver to install. As part of that process it detects my (2) GTX 580's and attempts to install a "Standard VGA Adaptor" I get one "sucessful install" and one "Failure to install" along with a message that "A restart is required", This is the Normal message I have always gotten, I have always just cancelled the message and proceeded to install my new driver.... Doing it this way -twice- did not work and the install would be fine until a cold boot. On my third install try today, I did not cancel the restart message, and instead did restart... and then install 295.51 I am not sure if this fixed it, but I thought it was worth sharing with others a possible fix. After more testing, I will be backtracking this and try and make SURE of the cause, and if found I will post it and add it to my Nvidia driver guide

No it's not...but that is how I let Precision and the new drivers get together. I don't have to reboot...can just simply restart Precision. Either way...maybe due to habit. Only way I am told to reboot is if I use driver sweeper to uninstall the old drivers. Since Nvidia has done the "clean" install option...I don't use driver sweeper anymore...

something else ive noticed is that since the beta's ive had to always do a windows index update on this latest driver it gave me 6.0 on video score so i go in and disable sli it then gives me 7.3 i then go and revert back to 290.36 beta and it now gives me 7.9

I haven't had any problems with them. I did a 12hr Mass Effect speed play on the weekend no issue, just started one for ME2, no problems. 2hrs of witcher 2 no problems. Shogun 2 seems stable, picked up 2-3fps there on the benches. D3 seems okay in the beta, though it does run a touch hotter around 74C, I was running around 70C. I hadn't done any ladder play in a month in SC2, so I can't comment there, might do some tonight if I do I'll update. DX:HR seemed good, smooth and no glitches. I'm getting around 4613 in 3dmark which is about the same. Fo:NV and Skyrim were good, no odd texture issues, studdering or corruption. I haven't even had a hint of a TDR since I've started using these. I hope I haven't jinxed myself.

the last beta messed my computer up pretty bad. so im kinda scared to try this one out.
I spent the last 3 days trying to fix my computer after trying these drivers. Came home today with the expectation I'd reinstall Windows for the 1st time since I got Windows 7..then I tried 1 last ditch effort..boot from "repair disk" and restore from "system image". Thank God..it worked. I don't remember the last time my computer was so *!#$ed up...VERY dissappointed in the drivers...but thankfull it's fixed.
