What I do have a problem with is people trying to put in numbers that they do not really have, and as such are false or incorrect. If you are putting in numbers that are wrong or incorrect, wouldn't it make your hit detection even more off, defeating the purpose of changing the number in the first place?

I have edited the variables to represent the average ping of the servers I connect too. I don't connect to servers >100ms, so my average will always be below the default values. Any game that I've played I've always set settings so that I'm >30 fps, BC2 for me has always been >60fps. How am I cheating if I'm telling the truth to the game.
So much work to do... someone has to do it.

I really have no idea how the server would deal with such numbers, and thats a problem if it is causing server performance to drop for everyone. And I am quite sure their are people putting in all knids of numbers and then testing to see the effects for advantage. That is also a problem. If you want a better connection to the server, pay for a good connection and play at servers close to you. Editing files is NOT the answer for improvments in this area. Or at least it shouldnt be.

Any game that I've played I've always set settings so that I'm >30 fps, BC2 for me has always been >60fps. How am I cheating if I'm telling the truth to the game. Simple answer to find the truth. Find a server with the "ping" you think you know, write that number down. Remove the edit and install a good monitoring software package, and join the same server and play two rounds. Look over the log data from your monitoring software and you will see your highest, lowest and average packet speeds recorded (up and down) as a graph over time for the two rounds you just played. Compare those numbers that to what you wrote down. There is your honest answer for the two rounds you just played. If you have never done this kind of a test while playing, it can be a real eye opener. But also keep in mind, connections are variable. What is true today can be a whole different ballgame tomarrow.

So I guess I'll have to quote this again. Glenn Courington of Evenbalance I apologize for not responding, Derrick. Being that it is simply adjusting an .ini file, which by design is made to be adjusted, we don't see that there is anything wrong with modifying this value. We do know that such a modification was made in BF2 under the assumption that it would help with hit detection, but frankly, most said that it did little if any good. So the fact that Evenbalance has said that it's not a cheat hasn't changed your mind? ROFL also, i don't think you know what troll means.

You say this "cheat" is only for people with underpowered machines. But I too am having issues with hit boxes. I have this game maxed out at 1080p with it never getting below 60 FPS even with explosions going on. I have even turned off AA with really high FPS and yet I still have issues with hit boxes. And also I have a fast connection and I am going to college in Huntsville, TX. The EVGA server is located in Dallas, TX which is a little north of me. I get really low ping in the server, and yet I still get issues with hit boxes. So your only advice of getting a better computer or better connection doesn't apply to me, but I still get those issues. And no, I have not tried this adjustment yet.

Ha Belatu OUOTE: "I am interested to know which tool you use to record your net traffic, I'm not very happy with what I've been using." Such sofware is more expensive than the videocard you are running. And in the wrong hands (such as those who would do anything for an advantage) is far to dangerous. I will tell you that you would find things like p2p traffic and a custom NAT running from your install of x-fire and also 3 seperate kinds of running traffic from the Steam runnning in your taskbar. Not to mention the 3-4 other things that use your connection while your trying to play that most people (like you) have no idea they are running while in-game. Experiance brings wisdom to ones computer configuration and internet connection. These things are learned over time by reading up on the subject and the help of others to understand how those facts apply to an indvidual config. If you had bothered to admit that your own posted tourney rules forbade "adding" any lines to the config file, I "might" have been willing to share some of what I have learned in 40 years of working with computers and connections with you. But you did not do that, you ignored that honest and true facts of what you yourself had posted. Do it on your own, I will have nothing to do with helping anyone like yourself. It is too likely to bring even more greif to online multiplayer and I will not be responsible for helping that in any way.

Pay attention to who is walking thru your fire. Use the "tab" to see that players online roundtrip pings as reported in-game by the server. I belive you will find that the people who are hard to hit are simply lagging. Be sure to also note your own reported values there. The lower your ping numbers combined with higher framerates (above the polling rate) provides the most accurate frames from the server on your end. You might also have connection issues on your end. You need to check your personal circumstances (comp/conn) and make sure that any issues are fixed on your own end before you judge others performance. Remember, until you have complete information own how YOU are running. There is no objective way to tell how others are. What you see on your screen, is not always what is real on the server.

ROFL They did not forbid adding anything to the config, go read them again, all it said was that you can't use extra config files. If I have to explain the difference to you then you do not know as much about PC gaming as you would like us all to believe. And the "such software is more expensive than the video card you are running" line is a complete load of bull, but I have begun to expect nothing less from you. It is sad that you can't admit when you are wrong. I feel sorry for you. I'd like to point out that Maniac has not once mentioned the quote from Evenbalance reguarding the "cheat" since it was first posted in this topic, or reposted, or reposted again. The truth is apparently 2 much to handle.

What part of "adding" lines (as suggested in this thread) do you not understand? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -->HERE are the posted instructions for using this exploit QUOTE: Instructions: Add " SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.0450000" and " SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 45 " to your gamesettings.ini and settings.ini file in the BFBC2 folder. In gamesettings.ini, add them between the lines; IntroPlayed=1 [GstPersistence] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thats the truth, in black and white. Anyone would not debate it. The lines in question are NOT in the config file. Deal with the truth honestly. And please refrain from telling others that I am lying, as everyone can see, I am not.

CEVO TF2 Professional League 5.40 Configuration Files Members ARE allowed to edit their user configuration files in the native game directory. Members ARE NOT allowed to have any other configuration files inside the native game directory. Any other configuration files found maybe considered a violation of the rules and could result in a loss, and one (1) week suspension. I'm sorry, but I do not see where it says that I can't add lines to my config... I mean, all i see is that I'm not allowed to have any other config files in my native directory... which is exactly what I've said before. You still haven't told us why you inevitably think Evenbalance is run by cheaters and hackers for allowing this, but I hope you will soon. So to recap: - Editing a config file consists of adding/removing and changing variables and commands
- This tweak changes publicly available files by adding user accessible commands.
- Professional gaming leagues DO ALLOW you to edit your configuration file.
- Evenbalance does not consider this a cheat in the slightest. In fact they pretty much encourage players to edit there config files.
I think it's time you pack your bags. You're done.

When I am in the server browser it will usually say 15 ping (more times that not) or 32 ping sometimes. Edit: I usually see people in the 100's to mid 200's in the game, of course sometimes more. I am usually below 100 when looking at ping in game. I have problems with either pretty high ping or really low ping.

Just because you "saw" a hit and blood, does NOT mean that was a hit. What you see on your screen is not always the truth. The SERVER decides the truth. Based on your description of the pings involved and your reported framerate, I belive the problem is either on your end -or- the server you are playing on is not up to par for BFBC2.

OR it might be the game itself. While I might not have software that is "more expensive than my video cards," I know the problem is not on my end. You say based on the pings involved and frame rate. Well based on my really good ping and really good frame rate, my bullets should be hitting the target I am looking at... but they don't always hit

That wasn't exactly a compliment. I've noticed you've completely disregarded the proof that has been brought to you and keep insisting that people are cheating for doing something that is not ruled against. I don't even know how most of this crap works and even I can understand that it's allowed in both regular and TWL play (so says the proof), so it's not a hack.

Products of the American education system and very poor parenting. People who cannot understand the facts nor argue them in an adult and honest manner. What sad lives you have ahead of you if this is what you bring to the table in life. The truth is what you want it to be, not what it really is.... how disgusting is that. Cheat on sad ones, honest players can see exactly who and what you are by your posts in this thread.
