usually on low demanding games: all games run on all settings ultra @ 2560x1440 @ 144hz refresh -dota 2 fans around 70-80% fan, 60~65 degrees. -street fighter 4 and 5 same as above -starcraft 2 same as above now for more demanding games: -overwatch = fans at 100% (extremelly loud) 69 degrees constant -cod infinite warfare = same as above, but temp seems to rise slightly to 70~72 -battefield 1 same as cod -mafia 3 same

nycalex80 just did bios update on my card yesterday. temps down from 80 to 65~69. i'm happy with this. however............ holy smokes is it LOUD??????? it is significantly loud at the moment, up to the point that it's actually pissing me off. reminds me of my old R9 fury, straight up jet engine on takeoff. needless to say, i am VASTLY dissapointed. yes they fixed the temp problem, but the decibel levels of the fans are ridiculous. i've spent over $150 on fans to both cool and be QUIET at the same time. that's 6 x noctua nf-a14 fans at $25 a pop. But it all went down the drain since the gpu is generating an insane amount of noise when fans go above 80% (which is 100% of the time while gaming)
Are you using afterburner or precision x?

precision xoc for a 2050mhz oc. but even if i don't oc at all, the fans still go as loud as if i'm oc'ing. the temps do drop about 3-5 degrees when not ocing, but the fans still spin very loud

Turn precision off. The bios is set to run fan speeds approximately 10-15% higher than it was previously. Using precision and setting it so high is a user setting. You can also turn the fans down a little. If you were using an aggresive fan curve, the bios doesnt change much other than adding a chance for a higher fan speed. You just need adequate airflow, not turbines.

I for one do not do "normal gaming" Fallout 4 at max with Mods and GTA 5 online max as well. I did not buy my card not to use it or to have it loud when I could have spent 10 bucks more for MSI Hopefully the RMA'd card will not have the problems people are talking about or I will be very sad and feel burned.

Would it not be possible to finally put some more specific data into the main thread? We have heard 2200rpm, 2000rpm, 200-500 rpms more, 10-15% more. This all does not match at all. My 1080 ACX 3.0 (non SC) runs Heaven at around 1300 rpm, going to 1450 rpm would be fine, going to 1500 rpm is fine, going to 1700 rpm is clealry more audible than before, going to 2000rpm is unacceptable.

i supposed i could do that. but then, what was the point of me spending $649 for a card i cannot use to it's FULLEST potential? one of the main attrractions of a custom cooler, is to squeeze a tiny bit more performance out of it. by the way, i did turn off precision xoc comepletelly while defaulting the speed prior to removing precision xoc. still LOUD as hell.

Adjust the fan curve to meet your sound / cooling requirements. That is what it is there for.

acceptable sound levels means that i have to get the temps into the 80's. i posted this as soon as i bought the card, since it was strange that the card would operate at such high temps: http://forums.evga.com/GT...ng-Temps-m2511663.aspx

If you want me to provide more specific data, i can not. I do not work for evga and have no more specific data than you have been provided. nycalex80 i supposed i could do that. but then, what was the point of me spending $649 for a card i cannot use to it's FULLEST potential? one of the main attrractions of a custom cooler, is to squeeze a tiny bit more performance out of it. by the way, i did turn off precision xoc comepletelly while defaulting the speed prior to removing precision xoc. still LOUD as hell.
Run your card to full potential, turn the fan down. It used to run at a set fan speed. We will say 1600rpm. If you had previoudly set it to 80% and it ran at 1600, adjust the percentage down to that speed now. Its a very simple concept. At 55%, my card remains silent on an open bench. If you are setting it to 80% inside the case, adjust the fans lower. You can also retry the thermal paste on the core as well. That usually lowers temps a little as well.

Troyhe98 The point being...one of the deciding factors on purchasing these cards was because they were the quietest cards on the market (besides something on water block). The other issue I am concerned with is the potential decrease in resale value after this mess.
"potential" decrease in resale value? AHAHHAHAHAH

I run my own test: So I tested the new BIOS for the 1080 ACX 3.0 and I think this is not acceptable. Running Heaven the fans spun at ~1250rpm at 20°C room temperature, with the new BIOS they go up to 2050rpm. This is clearly audible when not using headphones. 800rpm more is way too much imho. I went back to the original BIOS and will wait for the thermalmod pads to arrive.

EVGA_JacobF That was an early solution before finalized, but the final is around 2000 RPM during Furmark (normal gaming will be lower). During Furmark it is necessary for the fans to spin at 2000RPM. Normal gaming will be quite a bit lower.
