I turn off all my cpu features like HT and turbo boost, dummy oc, ect ect during an overclock. some people even disable all startups under windows.

lol since when is HT required? does that mean that onboard audio has to be on also? what about dummy oc? lol that is a pretty dumb requirement since it does NOT effect the overall cpu speed, just its multi tasking capabilities. overclock.net has a 5ghz club and better stability testing. I suggest going there if you want to get serious about overclocking. Not some evga forum that cant answer basic questions.

Well, Overclocking by creeping down the CPU is kind of pointless. Why not disable 3 cores while you are at it? HT does affect the scores by the way. LinX is supposed to start 12 or 8 threads.

HT effects scores? I didnt say anything about scores.. If you want to be true about overclocking, then enable every feature and run a dirty version of windows. then run prime95 for 24 hours. Cmon kid, this is evga forums. get real.

Prime95 does not nearly stress the CPU as much as LinX. I have run prime for days and crashed in various programs including LinX (IBT). I am not the first only one to report this. I indeed have all CPU features enabled on my rig so I don't really understand your point. Don't know how old you are and I see that you are new here. You don't sound very wise though...

The rules in this particular case say that HT must be enabled. Nobody is saying that having HT disabled is not best for you. But there has to be specific criteria for something like this. If it doesn't change the overclocking speed, why not just enable it? Problem solved.

Cmon now no need to be insulting and ignorant in the same post. http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/536348-prime95-vs-linx-2.html Stability is stability. I prefer a longer more THOROUGH stability. Your opinion of which is better is irrelevant. Running them both would be best. Also, my sentence was sarcasm. You take offence due to your lack of understanding and education. Why would anyone in their right mind benchmark a dirty version of windows? That has nothing to do with hardware overclocking or true system stability when software is brought into the equation. And since I dont sound "very wise" according to you mr great overclocking computer wizard guru, why havent you or anyone else on this evga forum been able to answer my post or even give a decent answer. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=944408 Its the psu.. how many times people blame the psu on this forum is ridiculous. I posted my psu, its not the issue. everything unplugged running a stock i7920 on a 6 month old very clean psu with 2 8800gt and nothing else plugged in. Its the memory configuration and the poor bios design. This board does not work with windows xp in sli. I am going to try the "beta" 80 bios i guess next. then windows 7. Go read my posts oh wise one. I dare you to question my intelligence again

I cant yet :( 32 bit only allows 12586 on Linx gimme an hour or two, ill install a 64bit os and see what she does. How long does that stability test typically take to run? at 25k?
