Nope Starcraft II does not support any version of multi monitor be it Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity. Blizzard deemed being able to view a massive chunk of the map a huge advantage over your opponent. And in all honesty I gotta agree with them on that one. If you're able to see your opponent's base at a glance and any troops he is sending your way way before he could see any of yours, that will take the games balance and toss it out the window. If you know what your enemy is sending your way and what he's building at all times that will give you too much of an advantage in that game.

There is no known work around that won't get you banned from online play. I too was disappointed in Blizzard's decision at first when I started playing the game. But now I understand why they did it. You would be able to dominate your opponent and counter any of his defenses and troops he is preparing.

This is a lot different than a 1st person shooter like Battlefield or Call of Duty. Sure multi monitor users have a slight advantage over single screen users in FPS games, but the difference is that you opponent can react just as fast as you and while multi monitor does grant you more peripheral vision, it doesn't let you see the vast majority of the map at any given time and clearly see where and what your enemies are doing.

Maybe they should have allowed multi monitor for the single player campaign, but if they did it would only be a matter of weeks before someone found a way to exploit it and use it in multiplayer as well.

i understand why they do it, but i think its BS for my friend plays on a 16" CRT.... so my rez kills that by like 10X.

So no matter what they do someone will always have a bigger monitor than someone else..

Is sc 2 the only game that does not support high multi monitor rez?

As far as I know SC 2 is the only one. But there is some games out that will not work at all or the aspect retio is all mess-up. Masseffect 1 for example the game works on 5760x1080 but the aspec retio is all off Black ops, bioshok,MW2 but there is a fix for big name games like that. And after that you get the problem with UI. like L4d 1 or 2 Your weapons are on the right screen and your friends health is on the left. The latest game I tested is DC univers online and it's the same way. There are some UI fixes that you can get but it's not 100%. the one for l4d2 only works on non official servers.

Isn't this post in a wrong place?

Resolution does not directly translate to viewable area in games. For instance a 20" 1600x900 resolution monitor has the same viewable area as a 27" 1920x1080 monitor. Both are 16:9 aspect ratio monitors regardless of the resolution if you looked at the same object in game with each monitor you'd see the exact same image despite one being higher resolution than the other. The part that matters is the aspect ratio is identical. Your friend with his 16" CRT is most probably a 4:3  aspect ratio and really 16:9 aspect does not grant you a massive amount of viewable area than a 4:3 aspect. People with widescreen 16:9 monitors do not have a huge advantage over him at all.

Let me illustrate that for you.

    1920x1080 16:9 acpect ratio

    1024x768 4:3 aspect ratio:

As you can see, while yes there is a little difference in them, you can see a bit more peripheral vision with the widerscreen 16:9 but it isn't monumentally different and certainly doesn't give a huge advantage to the widescreen. Very different when we're talking about something like multi monitor with it's massive 48:9 ratio

Here is a composite of what that would look like:

A little different than the 1st example wouldn't you agree?

necro desperation looking for some immersive hope.
Finally got two more 27 inch 3d acers for some epic 3dvision stereo in surround.. been desperately searching the web today after realizing that one of my favorite immersive 3d experiences would not work in surround.

What about a single player campaign in 3d surround? Is that unfair to the AI?
I can live without multiplayer. The next campaign in 3d surround would be epic enough fer me.

been thinking about surround as cheating...
What erks me is that if we were allowed to use surround without having to resort to a cracked beta version and the hayden "fix"...
The players who would call that an unfair advantage would completely forget about that perception the next day! And at worst maybe QQ about it twice in a year if even remembering to  be petty and envious. On the other badly dealt hand...
The Surround = ban penalty affects me every single time I want to fire up STARCRAFT and now probably DIABLO. It's like having a color TV set and being forced by a network to view their offerings in Black and White so as not to offend those not wishing to spend the money on that aspect of their system.
And it comes down to that. If a greasy fry cook can build surround out of three 27inch 3d Acer monitors than "ANYONE" can do the same. That same choice I had to make ( eviction,a life, 3 square meals vs surround system ) and the fact that poor people can find 3 monitors under 100 on sale @ new egg at least once a month is what makes ANY hardware advantage fair.
