The temp for my MCP in the bios is usually 168 - 180F. This seems way to hot.
I made the mistake of sending my stock chipset heatsink and fan back when I RMA'd my board. I did not get it back with my new board and have been without one ever since.

Should I be concerned?

The MCP and SPP do require cooling. They are known to survive very high temps for a while but to run them like that is asking for trouble. There are a few aftermarket coolers available for not much money.

Agreed. Cool it down somehow or your motherboard might soon be toast.

You should have gotten back a board with a southbridge cooler. That's crazy. Call evga tech support right away.

You don't have to strip the heatsinks off to send it in for an rma, you shound have gotten back a board with the stock cooling..........

Here is a stock sb cooler just in case

Just submitted one about an hour ago. Says it will be answered within two days. Its been a while since I got my board RMA'd but EVGA has always been helpful in the past. So hopefully they can send me another one.

Thanks to all those who replied. Its just another reason why I continue to buy EVGA products.

Already received a response from Support. Only took 2.5-3 hours. This is why I recommend EVGA to every person I come across.

Yea the RMA board should of came with the heatpipes as one of the requirements of a RMA is you put the heatpipe system back on if you took it off for after market coolers.
Sounds as if you got a board that somehow slipped thru the cracks and that person sent it back without the stock cooler.

Your max temp of 180 F on the MCP is just about 82 Celsius so that is warm but not really scorching hot for no cooler. The chips are rated to 100C (212F). Thing to remember though is the SPP or northbridge gets a lot warmer so that I'd venture to say is close to that 100C mark if not over.
My recommendation is to stop using your system and wait for EVGA to send a heat pipe system or buy yourself aftermarket coolers.
If your not overclocking your CPU then 2 of these should do fine I'd think and not that expensive.

If your overclocking then that cooler is still fine for the SB (MCP) but you'll need something better for the NB. What NB cooler will fit will depend on which CPU cooler you have.

Dang sorry did not notice till now that this post was nearly a week old. Well you are all getting my reply anyways as I did not type all that out for nothing. LOL

See what you did now Richard, making me seem like a good person has caused Nick to make lovey dovey eyes at me.

What happened to your BR's anyways Richard, you spend them? Almost certain you had some way back when we were starting out a couple years ago and also pretty sure you helped me out early in the 680i era with some overclocking issues.

No I never got any ribbons. I haven't been as helpful as you or spent as long on the forum cos my 680i has to earn me a living.

It's still doing very well for me, but those Sandy Bridge CPU's are beginning to look very tempting...
