Ok, here's the deal, I just can't get it to work!

I set the fans to what I want for the down time....say 60.
I click APPLY and then right click the number 1 profile box.
That works fine, NOW, I want to make a profile for up time....say 80.
Here's the part where it gets fuzzy for me.
The first profile #1 is still highlighted, right?
So I change the fans to what I want and click APPLY and select profile box number 5.
That works BUT, the number 1 profile is now also set to the faster UP TIME fans speed?????

If I right click the box to turn it off before making another profile, it is deleted.

Can someone help an OLD MAN with this?

Thanks in Advance,
Bubba.

Try right clicking both 1 and 5 in the first step.  Then, left click number one and apply to number one.  Then change the fan and then left click number 5 and then apply with number five selected.

Sorry, I have not used profiles much myself.  My instructions were incorrect.

Right clicking the profile item unlocks that profile and makes it useable.  Once the profile is useable, you must select it by left clicking it and hitting apply to apply the currently applied settings to that profile.

So, to do what you want to do, you will have to select 40%, hit apply, right click profile 1 to make it useable, left click 1 to apply current settings to it, and then hit apply to apply the current settings to that profile.  Then, input 80%, hit apply, right click profile 5, left click profile 5, and hit apply.

Those steps applied 40% to profile 1 and 80% to profile 5.  Now, to recall those settings, left click the profiles.  If you left click profile 1 and hit apply, the fan speed should drop to 40%.  The same for left clicking and hitting apply for profile 5.

    Does this still not help?

Something which may have made this easier is if Unwinder changed the method a bit.  It may have been easier to make load profile and save profile buttons instead of right and left clicking.  Imagine selecting the profile item with the left click and then either hitting load settings button or apply settings button to that profile.  But this method would be just as easy as the current method once the current method is understood (and wouldn't require reengineering the Precision skins).

It seems that there are two important items in this process:

    1) It is easier if that profile is not selectable to start with.  What I mean is that if the profile is selectable, right click it to make it unselectable to start with.  If it has already had a profile applied to it in the past, it seems to be difficult to apply a new profile to it without accidentally recalling the old profile.  Right clicking the profile which was selectable makes it unselectable and erases the old profile data from it.

    2) Apply the new settings you want before right clicking the profile item to make it selectable.  For instance, if you want to increase from the default fan to 40% fan, select manual fan mode, select 40%, and hit apply before you right click the profile to make it useable.  Only after applying the desired settings should you right click the profile to make it useable.  But don't forget to left click the profile and then hit apply again to apply the current settings to the selected useable profile.

    Confusing?

    ...

Let me install Fraps on this laptop and make you a little instructional video.  I'll be right back.  I don't have a mic with me, but I can instruct with text.

Ah ha!  My laptop has a built in microphone (but not that good).  Pardon the poor audio quality and the accelerating car in the background.

    I hope this helps.
