msjohnsn@hotmail.com

Starts automatically with any boot.  Or go into start programs menu.

I would get that taken out of system startup.

Go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu and right click on the Folding@home.exe and add shortcut to your desktop.

Then go to the icon on the desktop you just added, right click it and click on properties. Now this is if you know for sure the GTS 450 is being identified as gpu 2.

In the "Target" box add this to the end -gpu 2 -advmethods

It will look like this when you change when you add those flags.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\Folding@home.exe" -gpu 2 -advmethods

In the "Start in" box change it to C:\Users\{your user name}\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu

Click apply and ok. Now start your client with this desktop icon.

Hey!  You apparently got it started!!!!  Yea!  Load percentage says 49%, so it must be running, right?

49% usage? That's not good. Are your other gpu clients running at the same time as the GTS 450? If so does the GTS 450 gpu usage go up if you pause them?

Translating it to Tracker 2 I have no idea as I have never used that program, sorry :/

and of course you knew the next question was coming - ha.  How can I get it to run at 100%?  My other 450 is putting out about 13.8K ppd, this one apparently 3.7K.  Is it the processor?  Q6600 vs i7 930?  So I need to oc the cpu?  Or is it because there is 3 gpu cores in this machine?

Quick way to find out if your overloading the system is pause the other gpu clients and see if the GTS 450 usage goes up.

HFM.NET says the 450 and one of the 8800 have the same machine id, so went into configuration on the folding gpu and changed the machine id.  While there, noticed it was set to about 50% priority, so changed that to 100%, and my useage went up to 99%.  Changing the % put the ppd to 7.5k.  Which is better.  Will do the things you recommended tomorrow, to determine if the other cards are causing this one to be so low.

Thank you so much for your time, patience, and help.  Think things are working ok, finally.

Did you get the -advmethods flag put in? Sounds like your not picking up the better wu's for the GTS 450. 99% usage is as good as it gets, beside putting a good oc on the card.

Glad you're making progress.

I had a similar experience when I tried the GPU Tracker program. It couldn't assign the proper flags et al for the fermi when running with the non-fermis. I dumped the program and went back to my manual installs.

rklapp's links:
---
* gpu3 systray for Nvidia 400 (using FahCore_15)
http://www.stanford.edu/~friedrim/.Folding@home-systray-632.msi
Additional parameters: -gpu X -forcegpu nvidia_fermi
X is the gpu slot starting with 0

* gpu2 systray for Nvidia 200/9000 (using FahCore_11)
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/release/Folding@home-Win32-GPU-systray-623.msi
Additional parameters: -gpu X -forcegpu nvidia_g80 -advmethods

* smp (using FahCore_a3)
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/WinSMPGuide
Additional parameters: -smp X -advmethods
On my i5, I leave X blank for all 4 cores. Most i7 use bigadv instead of advmethods.

* For n00bs, you may want to try jedi95's FAH GPU Tracker V2 explained here:

* FaH passkey (needed for smp bonus points)
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

* HFM.net (use to monitor each of your clients and smp bonus points)
