Like we don't even have decent 4k Monitors yet and we just got 4k gaming
now we are push 8K already?

Come on Monitor makers get with it.... get us some 4k and 8k screen now!!!!
and not small little screens.... like try 31inch or 36inch or 40 inch and add some curved screens at that size

Aside from the huge drop in frame rates, I would love to see if anyone can see the difference between 4 and 8K.

The whole article is disingenuous misdirection. They don't want you to understand that Nvidia Ansel is not rendered in realtime.

Easy, put both resolutions on a 1000" 8k display and the difference is day and night. Dell has a 5K display thats been available for about a year now. Making 8k or 100k screens is easy as long as they can make the display bigger. However putting that into a 30", now the pixel density will cause them some trouble to make. Pixel density is what matters. My dell u3011 has a higher pixel density than a 50" 4K with lower performance requirements since im at 1600p. So in my mind its only worth going to 4K if i want a bigger display at 4k 45", but if i want better pixel density and bigger display i buy 4k 31" to 44".

Except that people (consumers, not companies) don't have 1,000" screens to compare it to. All they have is reviews to look at and see what people are rating it at. What agent8 is saying (correct me if I'm wrong agent8) is that anybody comparing "4k" or "8k" on a 27-30" screen is not going to really tell the difference, only a few will be able to tell. I believe it too, 4k or 8k is pure bragging rights, which not many really care. Waaaaaay too many people are still on 1080P, some are even at 720p.

I completely understand.  I was proposing the method to which anyone with good vision could see the difference considering the size of display was not specified.  I think the biggest difficulty is finding a store with any size 8K tv.  I would go 4K 30" if it didnt have such a performance hit.  8K 30" and I agree that money is being completely wasted unless you are wanting a screen you can see detail with a magnifying glass...

Which btw, I would only take a 60" display if it were 8K because a 60" 4K has a lower pixel density than my 30" 1600p display which I feel a slight increase in pixel density would hit the sweet spot where going higher in pixel density is unnoticeable.  That would not be to brag about either.

Too bad they couldn't make a decent PC game instead. Doesn't matter what retarded resolution scale they include they still have NPC's that can't render properly.

8k would be ridiculous, but 4k is here right now, and it's not for bragging rights. I only paid $350 for my 4k monitor from Monoprice. It looks amazing. It's certainly a very real upgrade over 1080p, and I think a more meaningful upgrade than 1440p, though it does require good hardware.

You guys are still not understanding this -- they're taking composited stills using Nvidia Ansel, not actually playing the game in real-time at 8k. This has nothing to do with actually playing a game at 8k.

Right on,  there is a huge difference between 1080P and 4K. While 4K is still nice, 1080P is more justifiable than 4K is, which is why most people rate 4K in the bragging right margin. I, personally, wouldn't mind having a really nice 4K monitor. They are amazing and stunning. 4K to 8K, though, no, there is zero difference. When it comes to TV/monitors, I think we have hit a brick wall trying to bring vision/graphics close to reality.

Well I can say that I love my 24" 4k. I can certainly tell the difference between my old 1440p and this new 4k.

That said, my 1070 struggles to keep up with several games at 4k.

The good thing about 4K though, is that you can lower most settings within the graphical settings and still have a decent picture in order to sustain decent FPS. I feel too many people don't understand that part, and are too eager to "max out" the graphics because that is what they are/were used to when they were on their 1080P monitors; it's not the same with 4K. At least that is what I want to understand and believe. It would be apparent that tweaking the settings is crucial with 4K to get decent frames.

I haven't the shimmering problem many games had in a few years. As the game engines get better, the need for max settings has declined. 8k monitors do exist, but who can afford the 10k or so they cost right now.
