First of all what country do you reside in? Are you asking for prices as I'm not sure of your question?

Zatir, do you think EVGA should pay the profit margin for the retail shops?

Your thinking on a convenience factor not a ACTUAL BUSINESS .The cards sold to retail shops are sold for a set price, not the price EVGA is going to credit you for a step up .The store stands to lose money on a sale they have nothing to do with other then ship it for you at there own expense .While it sounds nice ,it makes absolutely no sense practically. Sure it could be done ,but at that point a good size price has to be added on and in the end your not saving anything ,both EVGA and the retailer have more headaches (say a card is not working that was sent for a step up) paperwork fees etc.

really? who pays the retailer the fee to ship it? Who checks the step up card to insure its valid for step up and functional? who insures the card while in transit from retailer to EVGA?what happens who pays if it is damaged in-between? Your not thinking it threw logistically

FYI, EVGA's Step-up isn't about our convenience. Yeah, EVGA's route is better than waiting to get your old card sold yourself and loosing money in the process. But, for every Step-up, EVGA looses money by giving out a brand new card discounted versus getting both your original and the new card at full price, hence lower priority and the wait. But you are giving them a barely-used and guaranteed-functioning card with all accessories and the box that can be used as RMA replacements without giving those people a brand new card for free every single time, unless stock was low. In other words, while some EVGA rep may straight up deny what I'm saying, bottom line: EVGA created their program for them, not for us. If customers were the priority, then the Step-up queue would be gone by now; who honest thinks they sell full-priced cards just as slowly as their Step-up queue moves while retaining their #1 nVidia vendor reputation? We're talking hundreds of thousands of cards sold annually, yet a few hundred on the Step-up lists take months? It isn't a conspiracy and you should not take it personal, it is just business.

demand plays a large part in step up as does production ability at the time. Not all step up cards have had large waits.

Ok ill put it into more simple terms 1. Evga requests proof of receipt 2. Send in your card at your own expense 3. Send a letter to a local retailer or online retailer in the country and area the customer is in witch ever is more convenient and cheaper if stock is avalable saying you will pay the difference from the old card including shipping if their is any saving the customer border fees like us Canadians also saving on time. 4. If all elts fails have to stay in a que like it is now . Just saying this will be more efficient as a company.

Why would a retail store want to engage in this? where is the profit for "THEM" ? Evga sells them a card at of course a lesser price you want that card at a exchange price They(the retail store) get stuck with the shipping to them from Evga and paying any fees .....as a former business owner and with a degree this is business suicide for both parties to accept .No store wants to become a in-between for no profit off a item they bought

I have to agree with BioHazardSperm. Even if the cost of the logistics was not a factor with my knowledge of a lot of accounting departments (barely in the 20th century tech wise) the extra workload for cutting the checks to do this and/or issuing credit would delay everything so long that the stores would want to drop out of the program and for the ones that would stay it would probably take the same amount of time in the end for both ways.

so the 200 that i would pay to say newegg wont cover what the company pays to sell set card? Evga should have its money after they get the card i mail to them and that they cant send a e-mail to a company or customer saying this person has proof that he his good for the stepup? where is the loss and frustration in this?

so new egg gets your 200(does new egg even have a store? not sure lol)Then they are supposed to take a full retail sale they paid full price for and give it to you (mail it etc) then ask EVGA for money ? The price YOU pay for a card is not the price a RETAIL company pays, your just not getting it . While it sounds nice and happy happy joy joy its a bad idea from a business viewpoint as it incurs costs ,and i dont see you offering to pay those as your already trying not to pay fees. The FEES are paid by someone, you just dont want to pay thats the issue here ,give up the idea is STUPID

wth is your point here now? YOU still pay to ship to them(EVGA),a Step up is SHIPPED to you .If your country imposes a FEE on such transactions (as i believe Canada does) your ISSUE is with them not EVGA. Dont like YOUR COUNTRIES LAWS ...----MOVE----- dont expect the world to alter how it works because of where YOU live and how YOUR country sets the commerce rules.Good lord Also you cant seem to grasp the fact both companies sell the card at 699.99 right? Did it cross your mind that EVGA doesn't pay anywhere near this to buy it(from Nvidia) and package it for retail? Then they(EVGA) sell it to the retail buyers in BULK generally and they make a profit off it being bought at a lower price+FEES/shipping etc .Then the retail unit is sold and a profit is still made by the retail store . The price EVGA eats from a card they send out to you is no where near the cost from a retail unit ..... what part of the concept are you not understanding or are unable to comprehend here? stop looking for a easy way out ,you want to buy things in a adult world deal with the adult rules
