The block man most certainly can.  I already have been brainstorming it and have come up with a MOST simple solution.

You just have to wait to see it implemented ;)

how long is that card?  loks huge haha

In the first picture there is a ruler right above the card. The circuity stops under 12" but overall its not much larger then 12.  Either way the raw material juuuuust about does the job without having to get double the size.  For example the copper and delrin come in nice round numbers like 6x6, 4 x 12 etc.

On a somewhat off topic note your SR-2 block plated by RRTech is really tempting me...

Hey Nateman, The National Prehistoric Museum called, they want their video card back

anyway I loved 3dfx too, it was my very first 3d accelerator, I still have my 16MB Voodoo Banshee PCI with original box, books, and disks with it. I played Half-Life 1 on it and thats what got me into FPS games.

Updates!

Aluminum is now copper, and Delrin!

This is the simple plate for the back of the block which will keep the Vrams, just about every single resistor on the back of the card.

The inner channels:

Somewhere around 39" of travel in there.

Milling of the GPU section:

A 0.5" 2 flute Carbide Endmill TiN coated.

Milling of the Vram section:

Again this will keep just about everything on the back of the card cool.
More importantly, it will sandwich the entire card and ensure good contact between the chips, and copper surfaces of the blocks.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. Oh you are welcome sir.  Superb product from a superb craftmanship  .I would like to have a waterblock like that, but with a different design. copper on the inner surface mounted with aluminum on top not covering the block entirely, but like a snake/fish scale tipe of skin covering the block. I am just salivating my idea just now...oh yeah!

You are millin VRam section in concave form (on your last picture) :
If copper block rests in the smd parts because if for one reason
there is an error the shortcut will destroy the card. Copper component
is very conductive, it means if smd are in touch with copper block
then Voltgae will be different.
what do you think?
>The large Thermal pad will insulate the copper block from the SMD's.
Do you have picture how you will be insulate?
I would like to see it.
because I mean if 2 smd parts rest in the copper block directly they
will be in shortcut.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

This was the finish attained with nothing by the end mill.

Not a bad finish for a simple 2 flute endmill.

Another closeup of the finish:

Now lets polish it up a little bit...

A little better right?

That is the mill in the reflection of the copper.

Just pure bling.

The new hamburger block.

Still have some finishing to do, but the basic construction is complete.

I love the look of that. symetrical from both sides is nice! especially in horizontal motherboard applications.

The Voodoo 3 2000 PCI was my first graphics card. Even though I have no use for it, I still have it in the original box.  Great work, Nate!

I know nothing about this card. can it be sli with 2 of these? was that tech available back then?

Voodoo basically invented SLI.  Thats how they got 4 GPU's on this single card.  Then the green team bought them if I recall.

Yes, 3DFX created SLI technology and you could SLI two Voodoo cards back then. I'm not so sure you can do it with this one though since it has 4 GPU's "SLI'ed" on one board. Plus due to the rarity of the board, it would be pretty hard to find another to try it with.

Looks great. Out of curiosity, how much does that thing weigh? I wouldn't think a whole lot with the materials used.

I dont think its too heavy.  The copper sheets are 1/8 thick, and the plastic was hollowed out.  I don't have that kind of scale to measure precise weights.  I just hop on a scale with the block in hand and weigh, then hop on without.
