Asus Rampage III Formula with OC Station Warning temperature problem I changed my motherboard to the Asus Rampage III Formula with the OC station because the Lian-Li TR-5B was annoying me, since the alarm went off every time the north and south bridge reached 50 degrees Celsius for the SYS1 and SYS2 sensors. The TR-5B was difficult to adjust and didn't give me real-time temperature readings, which probably could have been fixed if the sensors could be placed under the heatsinks instead of electrical taped to the topside of the heatsinks.
Also the OC Dashboard with the MSI Big Bang X-Powercould not be mounted in a drive bay like the Asus OC Station and had to be connect to the backpanel of the motherboard on the outside of the case, but both will let me adjust clock speeds on the fly without entering BIOS even if the system becomes unstable unless its driver dependent and the hard drive fails. The OC station also has 4 additional fan headers in addition to the the ones on whatever ROG motherboard I decide to use, which in this case its 8. The system is running fine and is not currently overclocked yet and has not been since I got it, which includes when I was using the MSI Big Bang X-Power.
My current temperatures are 42 degrees Celsius for the CPU, 40 degrees Celsius for the MB (Motherboard), 62 degrees Celsius for the NB (North Bridge), and 63 degrees Celsius for the SB (South Bridge). The default Warning temperatures are 65 degrees Celsius for the CPU, 55 degrees Celsius for the MB, 80 degrees Celsius for the NB, and 65 degrees Celsius for the SB. Do the default warning temperatures seem to low because the PC speaker was beeping because the SB was at 66 degrees Celsius, so I turned the warning volume down to silence it until I figure out what I should set the warning temperature at for the SB. My friends CPU temperature for all his cores is around 66 degrees Celsius when he folds
(this is my PC), so I know 65 degrees Celsius is going to be to low for me when I decide to start folding and overclock. As for the NB and the MB I don't seem to have any problem with those currently, but if I decide to start overclocking these might be a problem. The IOH and ICH overheat protection is set to 100 degrees Celsius and I know I don't want to exceed this.
Basically he wants to know what should he set the high temp alarm too. I figure around 80c for the CPU, dunno for what else, his idle temps were decent, 30's-mid but what do you folks think. And anyone who knows anything about the OC station let me know how to set warning temps, He says it's not in the manual anywhere, but I don't know. -Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
