I finally picked up a decent set of headphones(mdr-7502) + modmic to game with.

There is no background noise when sitting idle. When I open a game and load the GPU down, I get buzzing in the headphones.
The buzzing is there even with the audio muted.
Creative audio driver is installed.
Win 10 pro 64bit

Is there anything I'm missing, or should I RMA the card again?

    Sounds like a grounding problem.

Outlet is grounded. PC is on an APC 750va backup. It's the only thing plugged into that backup.

    Using the Dark Green port?
I was talking about a Grounding issue inside your Computer.
Also is the I/O Panel Installed?

Is your UPS an Active PFC compatible model? If not, I had my cards buzz until I got an Active PFC compatibe UPS.

You can also try with the PSU plugged directly in to the wall to see if that gets rid of the buzz.

Also, you can try moving the video card further away from the internal sound chip.

You can also get a USB sound card for about 60 bucks, and it works wonders for eliminating interference.

    UPS is a be750g.

I just tried directly plugged into the wall. Still Buzzes.

I bought a $400 motherboard to not have to buy a $100 audio card. If I end up needed an audio card, this board is going through a shredder before being sent back.

If your using the onboard 3.5mm jack its likely just noise from the audio traces being unshielded or not shielded enough from all the internal PC stuff. Some people call it power buzz and it will increase with power usage on the PC. The inside of your PC is a noisy environment. A lot of higher end boards last few years have been shielding the audio traces and trying to seperate them from the other traces on the MOBO to eliminate this.

This is one of the Biggest reasons to use an external DAC/AMP. Even some of the high end internal add in cards will still have power buzz. Even with an internal audio card with depop and low noise floor still happens.

I always recommend external audio Amps. The new Rampage V edition 10 comes bundled with one. Because all the shielding they can throw in wont stop all that power from leaking and causing dirty audio.

Some people are not bothered by this. I for one cant stand to hear that constant buzz or whine. its up to you if its worth it.

    https://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/shop/digital-to-analog-converters/desktop-objective2-with-odac/

Here is a range to consider if your really bothered by it or serious about good quality, low noise floor, and clean audio. I have used all three of these and the Mayflower is by far the best sounding and quality I have used. The E10K is great for the price as long as your phones are not more that 250 ohm impedence.

Or its not this issue at all and your just hearing coil whine leak into your cans.

EDIT: I have the classy and can confirm the 3.5mm jack is noisy. Really its just signal interference from all the power and stuff happening on the mobo and in the case. and its unavoidable if your are using sensitive speakers or headphones.

I know that. I bought the classified board pretty much only for the better audio circuitry.

Then you know all about this. The classy does use one of the best codecs out there though.

The more power we put through our PCs the worse the interference gets. I suspect you are one of the unlucky ones like me that this irritates to no end. Go external you wont be disappointed. It only makes games and music better. I used that e10k for about a year and its fantastic for the price.

I haven't gotten to taking the 740gt out of another system to test with...

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm really considering shredding this board...  The classified really adds nothing over it's competitors if the onboard audio sucks too.

Swap the VC.  Or I guess you could just give up and start crying.

Or, instead of crying, he could get a USB sound card for ~$60 and never have that problem again.

I could hook it up to my RX-a2040 and 9.2ch home theater too.

So no one else sees the issue with a $400 motherboard that advertises "Creative Core3d Audio with dedicated shielding and a separate audio ground" has issues with buzzing in the audio?

No, because the optical output is for serious sound  ---> no noise there

Jacks are for PC quality speakers --> tuner is for listening

This MB is for OC_ing not for the sound quality

Unless you know how to shield EF & RF noise (good luck) ---> use optical to get the sound out to your tuner
