I've done so many searches everywhere but I can't find a solution. I just bought a evga 970 and sli isn't working windows and everything else sees the two 970's(yes they're exactly the same card).
I've
Unistalled drivers cleanly 5 times.
I've quadruple checked they're in right pcie slots(they can't really go in wrong ones on this board.
Sli bridge is connected I don't really see how one could screw that up.

Windows 8.1
i7 4770k
16 gig ram 2133
I have this power supply
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/tx750w

I have this motherboard.
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87%20Extreme6/index.us.asp

I seriously just don't get it.
Asrock is sending me a new sli bridge to try that and I have a stupid ps/2 keyboard coming (my old one broke) so I can reinstall windows onto a 80 gig ssd I have and see if a total reformat fixes the issue. I mean if windows sees the two cards, and every other app does it must be the bridge or a software setting issue somewhere..this is killing me I've spent days trying to figure this out...please help advise.

Also just learned that no return policy at newegg on video card so even if it doesn't work I'm now stuck with a 2nd 970sc I can't use at all...seriously. That really ticks me off.

Hello hdtv00,
We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your graphics cards in SLI.
Can you provide me with the part numbers of both cards that you are trying to SLI? These part numbers are found right above the serial number on that little black sticker on the back of the card. It'll start with 04G.

If both cards are 04G-P4-2974-KR then they should SLI together fine.
Have you tired using the SLI bridge on both SLI connectors?
You can always call us at 1.888.881.3842 and we would be happy to try and help you solve the issue.

Oh yea I tried both dual sli positions as I read it would work in either. Neither works.

Do you have anything installed in the PCIE4 (bottom) slot?..If so, take it out.

See you Sir are DA MAN. I been at this for two days straight. I removed both tuners from slot 1 and 4 pcie and it came right up and told me this pc is SLI able soon as I was back into windows.

Thank you thank you thank you. Now to see if I can get by with tuner in slot 1 pcie. Props for being smarter than the rest of the entire internet lol for real.

You're welcome, glad to help..Hope you have at least some hair left

That's not an uncommon issue that people run into when configuring SLI.. NVIDIA SLI requires PCIe slots to run in at least x8 mode, unlike AMD CrossFire(X) which does not have that requirement..Physical PCIe x16 slots can run at slower speeds depending upon how many PCIe lanes your board has and how they're distributed..A physical PCIe x16 slot can accept a physical x16 device, or smaller, but electrically run at x8 or x4..That is called an x16 (x8 mode) slot or x16 (x4 mode) slot..An x16 slot will be electrically dropped down if the PCIe lane limitations are reached, which you had done by installing a device in the PCIE4 slot and consequently sending the PCIE3 slot into x4 mode which won't support NVIDIA SLI..The PCIe limitations/configurations are described in you mobo manual.

You will need to find another solution other than populating the PCIE4 slot.

Yea I was on right track just didn't know enough about it exactly like you. Because I seen slot 2 was 8x and slot 3 for the 2nd card was 4x.  And I knew that wasn't right or what was needed but unsure how to change it. Long as I can use the slot 1 pcie ill be fine recording shows still probably anyway. Thanks again.
