Check that while tying the wires that you didn't pull a connection loose. Try switching to one of the ohter BIOS's.

Is it an instant FF or does it cycle then land on FF.

RMA the motherboard because it sounds like you killed it with static electricity. Rarely can you recover from the instant FF code. At this point maybe try unplugging the power main and the 8-pin CPU power and reseat them. You might also try reseating the CPU and memory too. If none of that works RMA time.

Forgive me, but if I remember correctly, could you have destroyed the chip when ran up the CPU voltage to 1.9 as you indicated a while back?

That was his last chip. This one he ran at about ~1.5v @ ~85 C. If you have another board or chip to try, I would, however based off the code if I had to guess I would say motherboard is dead.

If you ran this CPU at 85C for any length of time I think that is your problem. Correct me if Im wrong but running a sandy higher than mid 70's is a no no. If you do get this back up and running or you do RMA your board, I highly suggest running at least 30 mins or so of Prime95 to make sure you CPU is stable and at decent temps. Unless you running a very good liquid cooling set up, I would not recommend running a 24/7 CPU at 5.0. Even then your playing with fire......

for a 24/7 OC you do not want your temps above 75c, highest, 70c or lower is best. however running it at 85c will not nuke the chip. it will shut down/throttle as it approaches +95c you do not want to run over >= 1.45 as a permanent OC on an H70. If you were running 1.5v with your setup, on prime95 or LinX your temps would definately be in the +90c range

Honestly, if I were you I would take the advise of the people on this forum and dial your CPU down a bit. Like everyone is saying, 5 + ghz on an OC is overdoing it a bit. Just because it boots to Windows and runs games doesn't mean it's stable at 5.0 +. If you want to see a performance increase, run SLI or upgrade to a 570 or 580. If your hitting 85C on Prime95 that's too hot and you need to bring the voltages down. I assume you want this CPU to live a little longer than your last? How long were you running Prime95 to hit 85 C just outta curiousity?

i ran it for 10 minutes but when it went to 85 i stopped. so what ghz and v core would make it stable and good for everyday gaming for all the new games. i also have this memory: http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16820231460 would 9-10-9-28 and 1867mhz be stable for the ram too. but it says 1.5 v but is that the max i should go with those settings or should it be 1.65v

☄ Helpful
I would leave the ram at the default voltage as Sandy's use 1.5v ram by default and is recommended. As for your CPU OC, I would set it at 4.5 and either leave the voltages on auto or lower it to around 1.32 or 1.33. This should produce a stable OC with nice temps. However, every chip is different. You should be able to get a rock solid 4.5 with no more then 1.35 Vcore. An OC of 4.3-4.5 will handle any game you can throw at it. Just remember to take your time. Start at 4.5 with auto voltages and run Prime95 for 30 mins. If you have good temps ( I would say high 60's, no higher than 70 in my opinion) and do not experience any lockups and or BSOD and crashes, then go back into your bios and lower the Vcore to around 1.33 and retest with Prime95. If you still get good temps without crashes and lockups you can always reduce the Vcore again ( I suggest 0.01 at a time ). However with your H70 you should be fine running 1.35v for the Vcore. Just take you time. Its not a race :)

+1 anything over 4.5 is not noticeable in a game and should be attainable at 1.3-1.35 volts, start low and work your way up. the goal is to be at the lowest temps with the lowest Vcore. 5ghz is unnecessary and will not net you anything except extra temps and possibly a lower life expectancy. the only reason i run 4.8 24/7 is i get an extra 2k per day when i do folding @ home
