I know evga will never release drivers for win10 x64 for my 780i evga motherboard.

However, wouldnt windows 10 still work? Would it be worth it to use over my win 7 x64?

I want to move to windows 10, but of course only if itll work with my old system :(

Thanks!

Are there drivers for 7 and 8? If there are, I would just check the procedure on unsigned driver installation for win 10.

Image your install, install 10, do not verify/register (it will convert your key and invalidate your previous license), try the unsigned install. Register if it works.

me and my son have WindX home 64 currently running on his Asus M4N98TD which is a 980a chipset. not much different than yours. Runs really smooth other than the normal driver issues going around. We had to use some Win7 drivers for the board (nvidia / legacy)and had to direct windows to them even after running the driver install exe. Had to use device manager / update / choose from on computer / browse and direct it to the folder where the inf files were. But then loaded all the board drivers right up!

    http://www.nvidia.com/dow...sults.aspx/30655/en-us

We had two 465's running pretty smooth on it but were having some SLI issues that I dont think were hardware related. We then installed a single 680 on it and he is running Witcher3 now with no problems at all. I'd say go for it. You will probably need to do the same to get the drivers to install as we did. Don't know why WindX could not find them, it finds everything else!

Not sure about the activation, but we ran ours for 4-5 hours before we could activate it. Had to use a key-finder to locate the new key code for activation.

My understanding is that the driver model hasn't changed much from Vista to the present. Nvidia (not EVGA) is responsible for releasing drivers for these boards, and my nForce board has official drivers through Windows 7 (I believe yours is the same, but I'm too hurried to check right now). So, they "should" work with Windows 10.

If you want to experiment and do an upgrade, and don't mind losing data, backup and go for it. Unfortunately, the "clean install" of Windows 10 requires a clean install of your original copy of Windows 7 and then another upgrade as you don't get another key. The advantage, for this situation, is that if drivers don't work you can simply wipe and revert back to 7.

Installed Windows 10 to a 780iFTW board with no issues. Upgraded over Windows 7 Pro.

Normally if there are Windows 8 drivers for it then an upgrade should work.

Last nForce Drivers from nVidia were for Win7 (2011)

Just don't ever replace the mobo, if you do, win10 license goes poof.

Having 2 issues on my 780i board . In Device Manager there is a device that needs a driver . Of course I'm not sure what it is . Also having freezing up issue when watching a video . Gets about 10-15 minuets in then it locks up pc . Don't know if the driver will help or not . Can anyone get a screenshot of their device manager so I can try to figure what's missing ? Not trying to hijack the tread .

I have an EVGA 680i (EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1) running Win 10 Pro 64 bit with e6850 chip, install was super smooth and win 7 drivers worked for two thing that didn't install automatically. I first grabbed an old HD and ran media creation tool to create a flash drive install on the old hd just to make sure it would work. The I put back the original raid array and upgraded from 7 pro 64 and everything is good.

Well it seemed to straighten itself out on the video freezing up the pc . Tried NF this afternoon , (1) It actually worked this time , (2) I can now watch other videos . Not going to rock it's boat any more right now .
