Hello, i'm going to flash my evga gtx 1060 card later today with the idle-0db bios, but I would like to have the current bios as backup if I want to revert, can someone here send it to me or can I get it somewhere?

its not the superclocked version but the regular nonoverclocked single fan one,

thanks in advance!

Download GPU-Z.  Click on the card with the green arrow and hit save file.  It will save a .bin with your current BIOS.  Name it in such a way that you know it is the original file.  Do this before you flash the new one.

If you somehow mess up and lose it, eVGA should be able to supply you a BIOS that came with the card that you registered.

alright , thanks for the answer, but how do I flash the original bios back afterwards if I want, with the same tool used for flashing the new 0db bios? or another program like nvflash?  also shouldnt the bios be a ROM file instead of .bin ? or is it the same thing?

    thanks again ,

eVGA can most likely send it to you in a package file like the new one only requiring you to start the execution file and answer yes.

well I mailed evga and got this answer:

    "Hi Alexander,

We only have the updated BIOS available for the card at this time. However, you may use GPU-Z to read the BIOS from the card, but you'll need the NVflash tool to flash the BIOS back from a saved ROM file. You may find all the .

Please contact us with any further questions.

    Regards,

I use a UPS while flashing; wrong time for a power interruption.

No problem. If you can't save the vbios with gpu-z you can use nvflash --save command to back it up.

I'm also interested in going back to the original BIOS. I made the mistake of updating to the version that stops the fan, now my card idles a few degrees higher, and the fan doesn't turn when GPU under load until the temp is in the 70s - way too high, imo. Custom fan curve is useless if I need to have Precision X program running every time.

I have 4 intake fans: bottom fan, front fan, and 2 fans on a front-mounted rad. I have 1 exhaust fan in the rear of the case. The case is the fractal design S. The moduvents on the top are closed.

I will likely be contacting support to request the old version. The fan ran at around 1300 RPMs under idle and the temps were better under load under the original BIOS.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

A better alternative is just install MSI Afterburner and set a custom fan curve there. I installed the 0db mode but I set the idle fan speed to 650RPM. It's a much better compromise. 0db causes too high idle temps, and 1300RPM at idle is a total waste of fan lifespan and also collects dust unnecessarily.

MSI Afterburner is incredibly reliable and lightweight, and starts up with the system. Shouldn't pose any issues.
