hi,

I'm thinking about putting a 3570k into my p8z68 v pro gen3. currently i have an i5 2500 in there. does anyone know of compatibility issues, or whether i need to upgrade the bios somehow?

thank you,

J

Just make sure you have the latest bios installed. Also, I wouldn't go for anything less than a 3770k if your upgrading from that 2500 imo (the 3570k is only about 5-10% faster than the 2500 at the same frequency).

imo instead of upgrading the CPU why not save up more money and instead upgrade your GPU?

there is very little performance difference between Sandy Bridge vs Ivy Bridge and Ivy Bridge usually overclocks worse and produce alot more heat due to intel switching from Solder TIM to a crappy paste TIM.
