Is this really 'just' a bios problem? Did someone from EVGA already comment on this?

I'm really disappointed, and i might return the card directly after christmas.

I have thought about returning it but there is a 15% restocking fee soo I'm gonna hope for a fix. Most of EVGA is probable on holiday so I'm betting sometime in January before a fix

go to post #15 of this thread and download the ftw2002 bios.  It completely fixes the issue.  Even if evga did release an official bios fix you would want to download a custom modified bios to fully utilize a classy anyway.  The evga stock bios's don't have high enough of a power limit anyway.  This bios below has a 690w max power limit.

These classified's are beasts after flashing this bios and using evbot or software tool.  I have gotten up to 1424mhz core and 8.6ghz memory with firestrike and extreme.  Completely blowing away my 780 classy graphics score.

Come to the official classified owner's club at overclock.net, I have all the info you need there.  The front page has the nvflash tools you need and some instructions for flashing.  Flashing a bios wont void your warranty but I believe overvolting it will.   Anyone who is worried about voiding there warranty should have bought a different card.

I know this fix is not official but at least we all know about it and I always planned on flashing my classy anyway.

Where the hell is jacob or somebody else from EVGA. they are just ignoring us involving this thing I havent seen them adress our concerns and problems.

It's just like "oh we know we are working on something." others have fixed it in most cases but now its just like go ahead and complain.

is everybody there on holidays or something?

It's really sad . I was about to buy the classified version since I heard so much good about EVGA and their quality and customer support and now its just problems and problems with nobody really doing anything about it. really a big facesmack.

Sorry for the offensive words but evga should stop sucking kingpins dick and focus on their old fans aka people spending tons of money on handicapped classifieds.

are you sure you are using the ftw2002 version and not the first 200 version in that thread.  it works perfectly for anyone who has tried it.  Anyone buying a classified will want to flash a custom bios anyway so I don't really see what the problem is.  If you were going to use the card for it's stock abilities then the other models are better suited for that.

I have a new problem with mine.  power target never hit max.  If power target is set to 100%, it only comes up to 80's or high 70's.  if it's set to 110 then it only stays at high 80's to 90's......  This is with heaven and games such as assassins creed and battlefield 4 single player.

I wouldn't really call 1424core and 8600mhz memory a handicapped card.  I am getting over 15,400 in gpu score in firestrike.  My 780 classy was only getting about 13,400.

this score is number 6 on the hall of fame chart.  These cards are beasts and if anyone needs help with theres come over to the classified owner's club in the nvidia section of overclock.net.

your power % shouldn't always be at 100%.  Just because you raise the power slider in precision x doesn't mean that your card will use that much automatically.  That slider just allows your card to use that much power if it needs it.  I bet if you raise the voltage and your core and memory speeds you will notice it will use much more during a bench.  Once you reach the limit you set with the slider your card will start to throttle to meet your limit.  You don't want your card using the maximum power limit you set otherwise you will throttle.

That is why anyone who buys this card flashes a bios right away.  once you start raising voltages you will hit the stock 115% power limit very fast.  A custom bios will raise that power cieling.  The ftw2002 bios has a power limit of 690w even though in precision it says 115%.

Jacob has been assisting us a lot and has helped us every step of the way.  You just have to know where to look.

Also if you want to get technical the original bios isn't really messed up.  It only doesn't work if you try over volting the card with the evbot or the software controller.

If you use precision x to get to 1.2v the card works perfectly and is a beast.  The only time you get blue screens is by going over 1.2v.  EVGA never once officially advertised this card as being able to go above 1.2v.  So technically the card works perfectly out of the box.  To be able to use the classified to it's full potential you need to flash a bios anyway.  I am not saying evga is right but they made a mistake and the card is working beautifully with a new bios which evga did lead us to.  For me since I was going to flash a bios anyway and the card works perfectly at 1.2v with stock bios I am not that upset.  If there was no custom bios floating around that fixed the issue I would be upset.  Most other manufacturers don't even allow over 1.2v and I feel evga has made it very easy for us to crack 1.2v compared t the hacks people have to do to get overvoltage on other cards which some can't even be hacked.

This card was designed for extreme overclocking and all the tools you need to do that are right in the owner's club.  if you need any help setting your card up please let me know.  I am telling you this card is amazing and to go to another card would be a mistake.

if you want to use this card at stock voltage it works perfectly and if you want to go above that you need to flash a custom bios which is available for anyone to download.  I am not excusing evga but I would stop ****ing and start benching and have some fun.  You can't tell me those scores above aren't beastly.

GTX780Ti Classified is wonderful card I can bet, they make excellent GTX780 Classified(with Samsung Memory) no reason to something is wrong with Ti version. Important is good Hynix or Samsung memory and everything else is luck, I'm sure they will fix BIOS. Cards are similar only GTX780Ti all models are with nice memory and faster and unlocked chip.

do you even have the card.  Did you know at stock voltage the card works perfectly. Show me one official evga advertisement that shows this card is able to go above 1.2v out of the box and then you will have an argument.  Also what would an official evga bios even do for anyone.  it would still have the same stock power limit and as soon as you overvolted you would start throttling so you would need to then flash a custom bios.  I am sure evga knows that we use the enthusiast community to get the most out of this card and they actually pointed us to the bios.  I am not saying they are right but this card is amazing.  Any other card from every manufacturer needs some sort of a hack to get above 1.2v and some can't even be hacked.  I was overvolting this card the second or 3rd day I got it and all I did was use very easy software.  What more could you ask for.  Also the 780 classy was amazing and had no issues at all so i think they are moving in a great direction.  Especially with this new kingpin card coming out.

I posted this in another thread.

So basically there is an issue if you use 3rd party tools (or evbot) to increase the voltage that will cause a BSOD.

We know what the issue is, we know how to fix it. Unfortunately however, we have found a roadblock with actually releasing the BIOS. We are still trying to resolve this.

With this being said, there is a 3rd party BIOS floating around that has the same fix, but obviously it is not officially endorsed by EVGA.

... you mean the link with '88888925' in the name?

I flashed this bios, but haven't had time for testing so far. However, GPU-Z shows me exactly the same version number as for the ln2 stock bios. Is this correct?

I am using a different bios right now that I just added to the OP of the classified owners club, but that other bios was probably a revision from the original stock ln2 bios so it probably should read as the same version.  if it fixes the bsod's you will know.  it also has power limit of 690w so you will see a much lower% used during benchmarks.  I can flash it back tommorrow and let you know.

ya I was testing it all night last night and it worked great.  If you ever have any issues that club is a great place to ask.  Also when you get a chance post a gpuz validation in that thread and I can add you to the owner's list.  Merry Christmas.

Re: any word on 780 ti classified bios fix 2013/12/26 04:50:23 (permalink)
Hi folks,
my new Classified 780Ti only boost up to 1150 MHz Stock and uses 1.2v. :(
1250 MHz is not possible, 1202 is maxout with stock bios. This can't be the idea behind "classified" cards.. I don't wanna use other BIOS-Hacks, I just want a card with a normal good oc-potential and the possibility to push it over 1.2v via EVGA BIOS.
ASIC is 64,4% - very low.. and the ACX cooler makes a bad noise.
I'm totally frustrated.

Re: any word on 780 ti classified bios fix 2013/12/26 06:38:29 (permalink)
I just got my 780 Ti Classified on the 24th and I'm not sure if I should RMA it, wait for new drivers or try a different bios. I get artifacts on 3DMark and Tomb Raider at the default settings on either bios. Grid 2 crashes within 30 seconds of a race start and Tomb Raider crashes after no more than 5 minutes. Did I just get a bad card or are others having these problems too? If I try a different bios will it void my warranty, or only if I over volt it?

Battle field 4 crashes every other time I join a game or load a new map, I think that's just that game though. All of my system specs are the same as when I was running my 7970GHz edition and I unistalled all drivers before removing that card. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, 3770k @ 4.6GHz, Intel 530 Series 240GB SSD, 2x WD 1TB Black edition Raid0, 16GB(4x4) G.Skill Trident X 2400MHz, XFX 1000w Platinum psu, Asus Maximus V and a custom loop for the cpu and hybrid cooling on the mobo. I have the fan speed on the card locked to 93% because I play with headphones on so the sound doesn't bother me at all. The only game that I have tried and can play for more than a little bit is Payday 2. When I tried heaven it said my core clock was 1496MHz, but I know that isn't right.

I bought three 780 TI Classifieds from EVGA and an EVBot. I expect to be able to use the EVBot at some point with these cards - using an official EVGA BIOS. Please keep us posted.

hahaha same here

ASICs are 67 and 69
stock voltage is 1.175 and 1.187
with that max stable OC is 1241!

increasing to 1.212 volts hook up maximal OC to 1280 (NOT stable at all)

lol? **** is this
This can't be the idea behind "classified" cards  <-------------------------------------------------

nearly EVERY reference boards goes up to 1300 with 1.15 volts
i don't think a BIOS update will help out with that issues

So far from what I have seem most people are getting really low ASIC scores and are unable to hit 1300, I feel like these classified cards are really gimped should have gotten a $670 reference board... and would have been better off...

Someone asked me the same question on Twitter so I will put the reply here...

Unfortunately the comment I made about new BIOS coming was a bit premature unfortunately... we found how to fix it and can, but we ran into a roadblock with releasing it. There's a 3rd party BIOS floating around that essentially has the same changes, but obviously not "officially" endorsed by EVGA. We are still working on and official EVGA version however.

Can we get a ETA on the BIOS FIX...
