Hi all. I've just ordered Nateman Doo's X99 FTW K full copper motherboard water blocks. I'm curious about nickel plating, and my prospects for maybe getting this done. I've seen electroless nickel plating kits available online, but it's like a minimum $170 or so investment, and for a single set of copper water blocks I just couldn't justify that.
Have any of you guys sent anything off, or used a local metal shop or whatever to have copper water cooling equipment plated with electroless nickel? I specify electroless because I believe EK's problems several years ago with their nickel plating derived from problems with the vendor they used for nickel electroplating, and part of their solution was to switch to electroless. I've done a little more reading about this online, but I'm no guru, so feel free to enlighten me if you know something about this.
While I love the look of Nateman Doo's blocks, I already have an EK Supremacy EVO full nickel block for my cpu, and my 1080 EK block is nickel and acrylic. If I got the chipset and VRM blocks nickel plated the system would match better, and look really sharp.
