I downloaded and flashed this, and it wiped my RAID config. Fortunately, it was a fresh install, but when I reconfigured the RAID it wiped the existing data on the disks. Is there a way to do it safely?

Whenever I flash my BIOS I have to change my drives back to RAID in integrated peripherals and then reboot. After that it recognizes the previous array and boots right up. No need to recreate the array.

That's the best advice. Just in case of the unexpected always make a backup image of your raid array from time to time.

Is there a reason that the z97 classy 1.08 BIOS is not showing anymore in the EVGA driver downloads page? I wonder if that's a hint that the 1.07 BIOS was more stable? I'm doing ok on 1.08 but just wanted to check in...Barely seem any mention of it these days so people who recently purchased the board may not even be aware of its existence...

Does that mean 1.08 is not recommended with Windows 10?

When BIOS 1.08 was released the Windows 10 wasn't. I use 1.08 with Windows 10 so go on with it.

I went to check for a bios update, and I see that there is a 2.0.0 listed for the z97 2.0.0 I updated to it, system rebooted, and now it does not see my M4 SSD as a boot device in the bios. I can press f8 during boot and then boot the m4 manually just fine. The bios only sees my secondary data drive which doesn't have windows on it. I'm running windows 10 on the ssd. I did reset the bios to defaults after the fact (did not remember to do it before the update). Suggestions?

Did you figure out a solution? I had this same issue after flashing 2.0 on my Z97 Stinger Core 3D. My SSD is recognized by the BIOS and can see it on the RAID boot screen but it will not boot to it. I have tried: Flashing back to 1.08 Installing Windows 10 (1.08/2.00) Installing Windows 8 (1.08/2.00) Tried a different OS Drive (1.08/2.00) Replaced SATA Cable (1.08/2.00) I think this updated nuked the mobo...

RMAed my board the day after my previous post and received a replacement with a defective PCI slot today. Called to RMA this one and EVGA offered a free Advanced RMA, they ship first and send a return shipping tag. I'm doubtful I will have my new board next week due the 1-2 day approval, the Holiday, and 5 day shipping time from CA to FL. I asked for faster shipping and was told I would have to pay, 3-day shipping would have been appreciated considering they sent me a detective replacement. Now back OT my replacement came with BIOS 1.08 and 2.0 has been removed from the website.

I'm not sure exactly what happened. However, I am back to running fine. I moved my SSD to the Marvel SATA ports and I'm booting fine. I have no idea what happened or why it stopped working and can't find anyone else with a solution...

Hey Guys, I was about to upgrade my SSD to a PCI-E SSD. I thought it would be a good idea to update to the latest BIOS before I install the new SSD. I was running the 1.08, and then upgraded to the latest 2.02 for my FTW. The update went through successfully, but the system would not come up after the reboot. It keep beeping 3 times, then pause, then 3 again. The diag code on the motherboard was showing 4F I believe. I could not get it to post, or stop beeping. I then switch over to BIOS 2, and the system came back up. Is there any way I can reflash BIOS 1 back to what I had working before the failure (1.08)? I would like to have a backup if at all possible, thanks

I just read that the 2.00 BIOS updates are for the Broadwell CPU's only unfortunately. Besides upgrading to the new CPU. Is there anyway to flash BIOS 1, while using BIOS 2?

You can boot up with either BIOS, and once into Windows flip the switch to the BIOS 1, then flash it without harming anything or affecting BIOS 2.

Thanks for your help. I have always flashed in the BIOS, using the USB thumb drive. I am assuming that once I am in windows, and I flip the switch over to BIOS 1. Then use the flash utility within windows, to re-flash? Any instructions, or precautions? thanks!

It should be straight-forward. DaveB posted the flash instructions in the first post, here they are just for Windows: Windows Installation- Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard
- Go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit, and boot to Windows
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and run update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version. Instructions for a manual flash can be found at http://www.evga.com/suppo...main.aspx?faqid=59335.

I ended up rolling back to the old BIOS (the one released just before the current), because the latest BIOS introduced crashes for me (APC Index Error bluescreen). My specs are: Z97 FTW Intel Haswell 4970k Gskill 2600 mhz RAM Samsung EVO 1TB SSD EVGA reference nVidia 980GTX Also, I am still on nVidia driver 353.3, as all newer versions of nVidia's driver break Fallout4 and Grand Theft Auto V. Anyone else have these same issues or know if they are being addressed?

Dear JaesonW, I came to the conclusion that only the Z97 Classi Bios is being updated through the last 2 years. Would it be proper or possible, updating my Z87 Classi Bios with the latest Z97 Classi one ? Those boards look like identical. I believe that there must have been quite a considerable faults and bugs fixed with the new bios versions that may probably improve my overall performance and overclocking capabilities. Overclocking a 4SLI fully loaded board [all sata ports and msata onboard port occupied, all USB 2.0 ports are occupied, please, keep in mind that the number of USB 2.0 ports has been increased by 5 more USB 2.0 ports with the usage of the NZXT USB Expansion module in order facilitate the H100i monitoring and controlling feature, and still have my case front ports usable] with the 4770k CPU is tricky. Your Technical advice would be very much appreciated.

There's enough of a difference in the chipsets that the BIOS from the z97 would cause issues if flashed to a z87 board.
