Hey All

just would like to make sure i am not going nuts

Recently picked up a Z77 Stinger 2nd hand for a build and now stuck with it not booting.
CPU = i5 3550 with stock cooler
RAM = Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x8) CML 16gx3m2a1600c10
PSU = Corsair RM450

now when i put the ram and cpu in i did a test boot out side of the case to make sure it was working. connected vid HDMI (onboard)  i was about to get a screen up saying no keyboard present (i did not have one connected) i then proceded to turn off the motherboard to put it into the case

now with it all done i have a vid card in there (EVGA GTX 460 SC) and go to boot all i get is both the standby light and the memory light showing and no boot.
i have now disconnected everything and it is still doing the same thing. (same config as the test boot)
now i have tried alternating the ram config (all combos tried) and getting the same thing
removed the bios battery for roughly 30 min (had dinner) and still the same.

have looked at this  and really only found what the lights do and that is about it.

any help would be great.

thanks

Reset the CMOS to default and try again. If this fails try it again outside of the case as before with the video card in.

Simple solution:

Throw the piece of junk EVGA Stinger in the trash. It is one of the worst developed and supported POS boards.

Being 2nd Hand did you get it with the CPU and Memory or without?
Are you sure the board was working before you received it?

Did you test in the Case with the GTX 460 SC REMOVED and a KB Plugged in?

I tend to disagree. EVGA gives full tech support for their products.

This board is nowhere near worthy of a purcahse, even at 110 on Amazon I would pass. This board has and continues to be nothing but problems for 90% of the people that use it. Its crappy "No keyboard" detected, Error code 55 with the RAM and STILL (OVER A YEAR OF CRAPPY BIOS UPDATES) not being able to set my RAM at its rated speed of 1600MHZ without constant reboots (will only run at 1333). STAY AWAY FROM THIS STEAMING PILE OF CRAP, you have been warned.

yeah i had a CPU spare from another upgrade and the memory is new. Yeah it was working and i did try it with out the CPU. ended up being a bit of a PEBKEC on my part. leaving it till last weekend allowed me to see that not all the power cable were connected correctly to the PSU. once that was done it is now working great. It is a no fuss setup and had Ubuntu installed within 20 min or so.
Solid little board now that i have it working with all the proper power connected to the board haha.

For someone who only has 8 posts you sure are bashing anything made by EVGA that includes EVGA Users.
You are hindering users here on the forum and are not helping with issues that users are having you are only stabbing users in the back who owns EVGA hardware and who are tying solve issues here on the Forum.

In other words if you are not here to help the OP then don't Post.
If all you want to is Bash EVGA Products then Create your own Bashing Thread and bash along.

Ya I just went threw a whole lot of crap with my mobo z77 stinger too. All I did was upgrade from 8 GB of ram to 16 GB of ram. and it will not boot well for hours the ram is good it works fine on other boards but the stinger only wants the ram I first put in. I just don't get it.

yes to help anyways back on target or should I stat a new thread. After a while I was able to get it back up I am unsure to try to upgrade the ram again because of the trouble I had. I think it may be the windows version im using but I never had that kind of issue before. just remove old and install new should not be so hard. I was thinking that if I set the speeds of the memory to the same as the other it would be o k . But I am wondering because its going from dual matching memory to single 8s that may be an issue to . My question on that is does it except singles that are the same size. or did I miss something and this is a dual meme board
