Hello community!

My last build with the help of this forum was in 2011. It's performed admirably since then.
- i52500 / ASUS p8z68 pro.gen3 / 16GB 1600 DDR3 Corsair Vengeance / Corsair Obsedian / Corsair h60 CPU cooler / SLI GTX EVGA 570 / Seasonic x1050 / 50" 1080 single display.
- usage: gaming / GoPro up to 2.7k rendering / programming python / office.
- upgrade: sold a 570, used the other one for Physx / GTX970 MSI Gaming 4G / bitfenix fans
- ocing: with the 2500, only turbo boost up to 4.0GHz, memory sticks running at 1600.

I want to upgrade to a new system.
- Skylake i7 6700. No need for K as i'm only going to turbo boost it in Bios. Want the i7 for faster rendering on video footage and possible more complex programming (getting into coding etc as a job).
- Want to keep ASUS MoBo because i'm familiar with that brand and hopefully will reduce cable management swapping issues. Is this incorrect thinking?
- If ASUS, then split between Z170-A and the ROG Maximus VIII Hero. Reasoning is i want a solid board that will last, and i want better Audio since not into having to buy a Audio Card to complement my good music system. I might also go to SLI 1070 MSI Gaming X at some point in future to do solid VR.
- Need to swap out to DDR4 RAM. Thinking going to 32GB in case i get into complex programming etc. No need? Also, reading a lot about speed/latency etc. Any feedback from this forum could help.

Thank you for your help!
Jonathan
