Today is my Birthday, yay! To celebrate, I decided to drop a couple grand on an entirely new system. I went BIG! My system is as follows:

X99 FTW K motherboard
EVGA 1200w plat PSU
2 GTX 1080 FTW cards w/ eVGA Pro bridge
I7 6900 cpu
Corsair 64 gb ram
Corsair 115 liquid cooler
Corsair 256gb SSD
WD 2TB HDD

Get it all put together. Check every connection multiple times. Check every card multiple times. Check the ram multiple times. Check every cable multiple times. It's all connected, seated, sealed, zipped, locked and loaded, ready to go. Fire it up! every card lights, every fan spins, the HDD whirs quietly... The board beeps and throws an A2 error code. Because why not, right? Nothing posts to screen, it sits blank, the LCD flashing intently waiting for some input signal to tell it to do its thing. Looked up the code in the manual, IDE detect error. Ok then. I disconnect both SSD and HDD... Reboot, and A2 code (odd since no media was connected) on the board, nothing on screen. I did not try the CMOS/Bios reset yet. I was tired of sitting all day on the floor, hunched over a PC case. Spent the better part of 6 hours like that... Removing all old parts, cleaning the case of dust. Opening all new parts and getting them installed piece by piece.

Needless to say, I would make a great spokesman for eVGA and Corsair should anyone wanna sponsor me... Provided I can get the machine running. This isn't my first rodeo. Been building PCs since 1998, and I am head of IT for one of the high schools in my local school district, servicing over 1400 students.

Just figured I'd toss this out there for anyone if they're familiar with this, and what I might be missing. I'll try resetting the bios. I have my doubts. I can't update the bios since I can't even get the machine to post. It doesn't appear to be like the Asus boards which don't even need to have a single component plugged into it order to update their bios. Just have the flash image loaded on a jump drive, plug it into a designated usb port, hold the switch and off it goes! No need for ram, CPU, nothing.

Ill update tomorrow if I can get anything more to happen by resetting the cmos/bios.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers!

    Happy Birthday!

Alright, lets break it down and have just one ram stick installed, one GPU and the OS SSD installed.  Lets hope you get into the BIOS and see which version the BIOS is.

Also, I would recommend in checking the CPU socket for any bend pins or what not and a check on the bottom of the CPU just to check this off the list of any possibilities.

Thanks! It's been a busy day to say the least.

    Brand new machine. No OS.

Now Here's something I'd not thought about until about 30 min go when I took a shower. As I said, no OS yet... But I did have a jump drive stuck in the back of the machine with the Win 10 install on it. I didn't even think about that when I decided to stop for the day. I wonder if that could be the culprit.

Tomorrow I'll dig back into it. If it's not the jump drive, I'll remove everything and start with it at a base level of 1 of each component and work my way up.

    Off to do more celebrating!

Well it's now up and running 100%. Thinking the issue was just too much new at one time. No divers had been installed at all. I'd both video cards installed and setup linked SLi. That's why there was nothing showing on screen. I removed just one video card and rebooted, the screen posted immediately, asking for me to hit F12 to continue to setup the bios.

Too much excitement of getting everything goin yesterday. Just wasn't thinking. Updated the bios, then installed Win 10. Got the rest of the drivers installed. All good to go. Now. Something I noticed though in the bios... Half my ram is running 2667, the other is at 2800. Yet again though, I am posting here when not at my machine. I haven't dug into the bios and messed with it at all. If anyone knows anything off top of their head, feel free to lemme know here. Otherwise, I'll tinker with it later.

    Cheers!

I would recommend that you install the Base Drivers from the DVD that came with your Motherboard before you find newer drivers.
I found on the X99 *EVGA MBs that the order of the drivers seems to be best installed as listed on the DVD AMD RESTART when told to and continue the install after reboots. This realty only applies to Windows 7. Glad you are up and running now!
